Diamondbacks | Adam Eaton progressing

Tue, 18 Jun 2013 14:52:56 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton (elbow) was the designated hitter in extended spring training games last weekend. Eaton has resumed playing catch and hasn't felt anymore pain in his elbow. "Everything feels good," Eaton said. "Feels back to where I was. It only hurt that one throw and I felt great before that." He could go on a rehab assignment and play the outfield in another two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: A.J. Pollock figures to lose out on playing time whenever Eaton is ready to return. Eaton could be stashed in deep mixed leagues if you're looking for some stolen base help in the second half of the season.

Diamondbacks | Adam Eaton resting

Thu, 30 May 2013 13:37:57 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton (elbow) will rest for three weeks and be re-evaluated after consulting Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion of his MRI exam. "Then if all goes well, he's off and running," general manager Kevin Towers said. "But if not, surgery can be an option." Eaton is dealing with a small tear in the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow, and the injury is similar to the one SS Didi Gregorius dealt with early this season. A decision on whether Eaton will need surgery will be made by mid-July to make sure he'd be available for next season.

Fantasy Tip: Eaton will probably be out for another month and a half, but if he doesn't need surgery, he could be a nice source of stolen bases in the second half. A.J. Pollock retains value in deep mixed leagues with Eaton still out.

Diamondbacks | Adam Eaton's MRI results interpreted

Thu, 23 May 2013 10:57:02 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton (elbow) has no structural damage in his elbow, based on MRI results, the team announced. He'll strengthen around the area for two to three weeks and then begin a throwing program.

Fantasy Tip: The Snakes have apparently given no additional details about a timetable following the outfielder's recent setback, but it sounds like Eaton is unlikely to return before mid- to late June. They'll probably proceed a little more cautiously this time. A.J. Pollock's seemingly dwindling value just received a slight jolt, although he's still contending with Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra and Cody Ross.

Diamondbacks | Adam Eaton's setback a muscular issue

Wed, 22 May 2013 13:26:02 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton's (elbow) issue appears to be muscular and not ligament-related after he met with a doctor. Eaton will undergo an MRI exam to make sure.

Fantasy Tip: This is some good news after we found out about his setback, but he's not in the clear yet. If it's just a muscular issue, this should be a short-term setback for Eaton. A.J. Pollock's value will take a major hit when Eaton returns, and he'll likely only be worth owning in NL leagues.
