White Sox | Adam Eaton ready for challenge

Tue, 18 Feb 2014 18:45:11 -0800

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton (elbow) said Tuesday, Feb. 18, that he has no lingering effects from a sprain in his left ulnar collateral ligament. He admitted moving from the National League to the American League presents a new task in learning the pitchers, but he is ready for the challenge. "I'm ready to play baseball. We are all little kids out here, just playing on the playground, playing some baseball," Eaton said.

Fantasy Tip: Eaton can hit for average, and he is a nice source of steals when he is healthy. He has had a propensity for injury, but as long as he can avoid the disabled list, he will be a nice fantasy option in all formats.

White Sox | Adam Eaton acquired

Tue, 10 Dec 2013 12:23:27 -0800

The Chicago White Sox acquired OF Adam Eaton from the Arizona Diamondbacks as part of a three-team trade Tuesday, Dec. 10. The White Sox sent SP Hector Santiago to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels also acquired SP Tyler Skaggs from the Diamondbacks in exchange for OF Mark Trumbo.

Fantasy Tip: First and foremost, the trade of Santiago likely means Chris Sale isn't going anywhere. Eaton is a high-energy type that should fit nicely in the outfield alongside Avisail Garcia and Dayan Viciedo. Eaton gains some intrigue moving to U.S. Cellular Field, a place that will help what's left of his limited power stroke.

Angels | Tyler Skaggs, Hector Santiago acquired

Tue, 10 Dec 2013 12:19:09 -0800

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired SP Tyler Skaggs from the Arizona Diamondbacks and SP Hector Santiago from the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, Dec. 10. The Angels sent OF Mark Trumbo to the Diamondbacks and OF Adam Eaton was sent from Arizona to Chicago.

Fantasy Tip: The Halos were desperate for starting rotation help, and Skaggs and Santiago should be expected to fill out the starting five for next year. Skaggs is still young and has time to develop, but his prospect hype may leave him a tad overrated. Santiago appears to be the better catch, as he's pitched much better as a starter than reliever. The move to a more friendly pitcher's environment will help both, too.

Diamondbacks | Mark Trumbo acquired in three-team trade

Tue, 10 Dec 2013 12:07:22 -0800

The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired OF Mark Trumbo from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Tuesday, Dec. 10, in a three-team deal that also sent OF Adam Eaton to the Chicago White Sox and SPs Hector Santiago and Tyler Skaggs to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: Trumbo's 30-homer power will play nicely in the desert, but he doesn't make enough contact to sustain a helpful batting average. It's feast or famine for him with his strikeout rate approaching 30 percent. His addition and the loss of Adam Eaton will allow Gerardo Parra to move into a starter role in center field.

Diamondbacks | Could look to add a bat

Sat, 14 Sep 2013 18:50:33 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers indicated the team may look to add a corner outfield that has power this offseason. The team likely will not be able to sign a high-profile free agent, so the team probably would have to trade for an outfielder. Towers indicated to the team could trade OF A.J. Pollock, OF Adam Eaton or OF Gerardo Parra in order to add a corner outfielder because those players receive interest from other teams.

Diamondbacks | Adam Eaton won't be benched

Wed, 14 Aug 2013 11:53:11 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton won't be benched because he didn't run hard to first base in his club's extra-innings game on Tuesday, Aug. 13, according to manager Kirk Gibson.

Eaton bounced into a double play last that ended the 10th inning last night and appeared to let up. His explanation was that he had a mental lapse, plenty believable for the noted hustler. Nick Piecoro also tweets that Gibson said he would have removed Eaton from the game at the time if he'd had enough players available from the pine. This shouldn't affect Eaton's PT in the future, barring something out of character from him occurring again.

Fantasy Tip: Eaton isn't in there today, even though the team is facing a right-hander, so we'll have to take the manager's word for it. Eaton bounced into a double play that ended the 10th inning last night and appeared to let up. His explanation was that he had a mental lapse, plenty believable for the noted hustler. Nick Piecoro also tweets that Gibson said he would have removed Eaton from the game at the time if he'd had enough players available from the pine. Still, hopefully Eaton has received the message and this shouldn't affect Eaton's PT in the future, barring something out of character from him occurring again.

Diamondbacks | Jason Kubel scratched

Sun, 28 Jul 2013 17:08:16 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel (back) was scratched from the lineup Sunday, July 28, against the San Diego Padres due to a stiff back. OF A.J. Pollock made the start in center field, and OF Adam Eaton slid over to left field as a result.

Fantasy Tip: Kubel is considered day to day, but carries a little risk heading into the upcoming scoring period. Since the team has a scheduled day off Monday, he'll get another day to rest. Fantasy owners should be all right keeping him active, as it doesn't sound too serious.
