Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers struck out a career-high 14 batters in six shutout innings to beat the Chicago Cubs Thursday, Aug. 14.
Fantasy Tip: Fiers has shown flashes and had 135 K's in 127 2/3 innings two years ago. He should be picked up in all NL-only leagues and is worth a flier in some mixed leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers' start Saturday, Aug. 9, isn't an audition, as the team already has him lined up to start again against the Chicago Cubs Thursday, Aug. 15.
Fantasy Tip: This should make NL-only managers more confident in going out and spending on Fiers for their rotations. Fiers is a top prospect in the organization with high strikeout upside. He could eventually become an option for deep league managers, as well.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers will be called up from Triple-A Nashville to start against the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday, Aug. 9.
Fantasy Tip: Fiers has appeared in several games in relief for the Brew Crew this year. At Nashville, he went 8-5 with a 2.55 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings. The Brewers considered moving Marco Estrada back to the rotation, but he's been much better in relief. Fiers should immediately be an NL-only option, although his first start is a tough one. If he remains in the rotation, he should be considered in deep mixed leagues, too, because of his strikeout upside.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers was mentioned as a serious candidate to replace the injured SP Matt Garza (rib cage) , according to manager Ron Roenicke.
Tue, 05 Aug 2014 10:19:00 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza (oblique) is expected to land on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, manager Ron Roenicke said on his weekly radio show. Garza left his start early after six innings with the oblique strain. Garza suffered a similar injury in spring training last year and missed the first seven weeks of the season. SP Marco Estrada will likely be called upon to take Garza's spot in the rotation, and RP Mike Fiers is likely to be called up from Triple-A Nashville to pitch in long relief.
Fantasy Tip: Oblique injuries almost always land a pitcher on the DL, so this is nothing new. Plan to lose Garza for a good chunk of time. Estrada, who struggled mightily in the rotation and was demoted to the bullpen, should only be worth consideration in NL-only leagues.
