The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled Ps Yoslan Herrera and Jose Alvarez from the minors Sunday, April 13, and optioned RPs Dane De La Rosa and Matt Shoemaker in corresponding moves. Also, RP Brian Moran (elbow) was moved to the 60-day disabled list.

However, he's expected to start the year on the disabled list. Moran was the team's Rule 5 pick.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim could open the season with an all right-handed bullpen since RP Brian Moran (elbow) hasn't pitched in a week due to elbow soreness. Moran was the team's Rule 5 draft pick. He figures to be a situational lefty reliever for the Angels this year if he's healthy. RP Sean Burnett (elbow) hasn't pitched in a spring game while coming off Tommy John surgery, although he threw fastballs and changeups in a bullpen Wednesday, March 19.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim haven't carried a Rule 5 pick on their big league roster since 2000, when RP Derrick Turnbow. However, left-handed RP Brian Moran has a chance to break the streak. If he doesn't make the team and clears waivers, the Seattle Mariners could re-acquire him for $25,000. Moran is battling Ps Robert Carson and Clay Rapada to be a second left-handed relief option behind RP Sean Burnett (elbow), who is returning from an elbow surgery and might not be ready for the regular season opener.
