Updating previous reports, Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail has decided to leave the organization to tend to family and personal obligations.

Former Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said he is not ready to step away from the game on a permanent basis. "I'm too young to retire but this will be a good opportunity for me to step away," he said shortly after leaving the organization. The Orioles reportedly offered him the option of serving in a variety of roles but he declined because of family and personal obligations. "You can't be around some of the time and then not be around for some of the time," MacPhail said. "You can't have one foot in and one foot out." MacPhail is not expected to offer any input on his replacement.

Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail still has not decided if he wants remain with organization in some capacity. MacPhail may not make a decision until his contract expires at the end of the month.

Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos met with president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail Thursday, Sept. 29, and Angelos expressed his interest in MacPhail remaining with the organization in some capacity. MacPhail is looking to step down from his current position.
