Updating previous reports, Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail has decided to leave the organization to tend to family and personal obligations.

Former Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said he is not ready to step away from the game on a permanent basis. "I'm too young to retire but this will be a good opportunity for me to step away," he said shortly after leaving the organization. The Orioles reportedly offered him the option of serving in a variety of roles but he declined because of family and personal obligations. "You can't be around some of the time and then not be around for some of the time," MacPhail said. "You can't have one foot in and one foot out." MacPhail is not expected to offer any input on his replacement.
