Red Sox | Mookie Betts making progress

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 19:30:41 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) is starting to make progress as he tries to return from a concussion suffered July 29. He did not accompany the team for its road trip to New York, but he will re-join the club in Detroit.

Fantasy Tip: Betts ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is making progress, but avoid him in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in back-to-back games without any setbacks.

Red Sox | Mookie Betts won't travel to NY

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 19:29:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) won't travel for the upcoming series against the New York Yankees, manager John Farrell said Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Jackie Bradley Jr. should continue to fill in for Betts, but he is hitting just .111 for the year and offers little fantasy value.

Red Sox | Mookie Betts lands on DL

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:54:03 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list Wednesday, July 29, after more tests confirmed he suffered a concussion Tuesday, July 28, according to manager John Farrell. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. was recalled from Class AAA Pawtucket and is starting Wednesday night. There is no timetable for Betts' return. Farrell said Bradley will be the team's everyday center fielder with Betts out. Bradley was hitting .305/.382/.472 in 71 games with Pawtucket, but he was just 4-for-30 (.133) in 14 games with Boston earlier this year.

Fantasy Tip: Concussions can be tricky, so stay tuned for more updates on when Betts might return. Hang onto him in all leagues in the meantime. Bradley has an opportunity to make noise for those outfield-needy teams in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. He'll be a source of salary cap relief on FantasyScore with a cheap salary.

Red Sox | Mookie Betts sitting out

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 14:37:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. was called up from the minors and is starting in center field and hitting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: Betts could need to go on the seven-day concussion DL, so stay tuned. Bradley could be a short-term pickup in deeper leagues if Betts goes on the DL, and he could split time with Alejandro De Aza in center. Tonight against the southpaw Quintana, Bradley is a very unattractive FantasyScore pick.

Red Sox | Mookie Betts checked for concussion

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 18:53:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) left the game Tuesday, July 28, against the Chicago White Sox after tumbling over the short wall at Fenway Park on a catch attempt. He landed on his head and is being checked for concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Betts ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) would be forced to the 7-day disabled list if he has concussion-like symptoms, so check back later. FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid him even if he checks out fine, as he could get a day off Wednesday just to recuperate.

Red Sox | Mookie Betts out of the lineup

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 15:30:45 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 22. OF Alejandro De Aza is playing center field and batting sixth against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Betts ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is a worthy of consideration as a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Wednesday. Since joining the Red Sox, De Aza has a .320/.360/.553 slash line over 111 plate appearances.

Red Sox | Mookie Betts riding extended hot stretch

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 15:40:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts has a .364/.400/.645 slash line over his past 25 games with 23 runs, 10 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 17 RBI and three stolen bases.

Fantasy Tip: Betts ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) was a popular breakout candidate this spring, and he shot up draft boards to the point of then becoming a potential bust because he had entered the early middle round conversation. For all intents and purposes, Betts has lived up to the hype and is tipping the scales in all five categories. Continue to view him as a solid second-tier outfielder going forward, and he is currently priced for profit at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Betts ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is leading off for the second straight game, and it is not known if he will stay at that spot. He has recorded 17 hits and six RBI over his last eight games and should be a solid starting option on FantasyScore during his hot streak.
