Mariners | Brad Miller reaches the seats

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 20:58:05 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs Tuesday, June 16, against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Miller is showing some signs of life after hitting just .188 in the month of May. He has two multi-hit games in the past seven outings. Miller ($3,200; or 6.4% of cap) is useful in FantasyScore only as a salary saver.

Mariners | Brad Miller sitting vs. Houston

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 15:17:37 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 12. SS Willie Bloomquist is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Houston Astros SP Brett Oberholtzer Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last 18 games, Miller ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a .154/.290/.212 slash line, as he is struggling to take advantage of his everyday shortstop job. At this point, he should be reserved for AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. Bloomquist ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is 10-for-56 (.179 batting average) with a .389 OPS, and FantasyScore players should view him as a desperation source of cap relief Friday.

Mariners | Brad Miller out Saturday

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 16:27:34 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller is out of the lineup Saturday, June 6, against the Tampa Bay Rays. SS Willie Bloomquist will get the start and bat eighth in the order against RHP Alex Colome.

Fantasy Tip: Bloomquist ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) needs to be avoided on FantasyScore as his lone multi-hit game of the season came April 14.

Mariners | Brad Miller sitting out

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 15:19:03 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller is not in the starting lineup against a left-hander Tuesday, June 2. SS Willie Bloomquist is starting at shortstop and hitting second in the batting order against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia.

Fantasy Tip: Bloomquist ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) doesn't generally move the needle offensively on FantasyScore. But tonight he qualifies as a deep sleeper against Sabathia, who's basically been throwing batting practice this year. Right-handers have an OPS of .926 against him, and they've hit nine of the 10 homers he's allowed this year.

Mariners | Brad Miller projects to be everyday SS

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 15:10:13 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller is likely to receive the majority of starts at shortstop with SS Chris Taylor being optioned to Class AAA Tacoma Monday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is mired in an active 1-for-25 skid, so while it might be helpful for him to have a consistent position to go along with everyday at-bats, he doesn't hold seasonal value outside of AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. FantasyScore players would be wise to take a wait-and-see approach until he heats up, too.

Mariners | Chris Taylor not playing Sunday

Sun, 31 May 2015 13:03:17 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 31, against the Cleveland Indians. OF Dustin Ackley is hitting ninth and SS Brad Miller is in at shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is out on an off day, and Miller ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) gets a turn at the position. Miller is not a bad addition for the price. Ackley ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) carries minimal fantasy value.

Mariners | Chris Taylor sitting vs. Rays

Wed, 27 May 2015 08:13:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor is not in the starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday, May 27. SS Brad Miller is batting seventh and playing shortstop Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Taylor ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. Taylor is just 10-for-59 with only four runs and one RBI to start the season, and he isn't a viable option outside AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. Miller ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) should be viewed as a risk/reward option for FantasyScore contests Wednesday.

Mariners | Brad Miller dropped to eighth

Tue, 26 May 2015 15:44:56 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller was dropped to eighth in the order Tuesday, May 26, against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) struggled in the leadoff spot and it has been immediately given back to Austin Jackson. Miller has five home runs and three stolen bases on the season, but he'll likely score fewer runs while at the bottom of the order and with at-bats tougher to come by.

Mariners | Brad Miller at leadoff against Jays

Fri, 22 May 2015 13:56:42 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Friday, May 22. OF Seth Smith is moving from leadoff to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Both Miller ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and Smith ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) are acceptable value picks for daily gamers tonight against Estrada, who was sensational in the bullpen but has been vulnerable to the long ball as a starter. Estrada's OPS against lefties this year is .704, and the game is being played in a hitter-friendly park.

Mariners | Brad Miller heating up

Sun, 17 May 2015 18:47:14 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-0 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday, May 17, and he has hit four home runs in his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) only has five home runs on the year so a bulk of his production has come in the past few games. While he is swinging a hot bat, Miller could make a solid source of cap relief at FantasyScore.
