Marlins | Marcell Ozuna plates three

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 19:17:43 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna hit a three-run double, scored a run and added another hit during the Marlins 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, June 2. Ozuna now has 18 RBI on the season.

Fantasy Tip: After a 25-home run, 85-RBI season in 2014, the 24-year-old Ozuna ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) had a lot of expectations looming over his fantasy stock this year. However, to date, he has been rather unimpressive. The double Tuesday was just his 14th extra-base hit of the season, and he only has three home runs. Over the 25 games leading into Tuesday, Ozuna was hitting just .228 with a .608 OPS, so hopefully his three-RBI showing is a sign of things to come. In favorable matchups, FantasyScore players can turn to him as a viable value play in contests given his cap-friendly price.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna out of the lineup

Sun, 31 May 2015 08:46:40 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 31.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Ichiro Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will take his place in the starting lineup and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna bumped back to fifth

Wed, 27 May 2015 08:31:32 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is batting fifth against the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) recorded a hit in each of his seven games batting second, but he'll return to the five-hole Wednesday. While he is trending in the right direction, Ozuna lands in a daunting matchup against Gerrit Cole. FantasyScore players should view Ozuna as a high-risk, high-reward option Wednesday. Batting fifth will increase his RBI opportunities while likely hindering his runs scored upside, and the switch won't have a significant impact on his overall value.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna, Martin Prado flop in lineup

Wed, 20 May 2015 13:29:10 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is hitting second in the batting order against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Chase Anderson Wednesday, May 20, while 3B Martin Prado moves from the two-hole to cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is hitting .182 (4-for-22) with one RBI since May 12, and Prado ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is hitting .257 (19-for-74) with a homer and six RBI in May. The lineup shift was done with the intent of getting Miami's lackluster offense going. It could work tonight against Anderson, who has pitched very well this year, but until we see results, it's probably best to consider both Ozuna and Prado mediocre plays.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna returns to lineup

Tue, 19 May 2015 14:30:07 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is returning to the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson Tuesday, May 19, after sitting out for personal reasons Monday, May 18. Ozuna is hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) only has three home runs and 11 RBI on the season hitting in the middle of the Marlins' order, leaving a lot to be desired. Hellickson comes into this start having allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts, though. Ozuna wouldn't be a terrible choice for your daily lineups tonight.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna a late scratch

Mon, 18 May 2015 13:27:25 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna was a late scratch for the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday, May 18, because he is dealing with a personal issue. OF Ichiro Suzuki will replace Ozuna in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ozuna ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday, and until he returns to the starting lineup. Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap), even at 41, still posses solid contact skills and is a reliable low-end FantasyScore play. However, his upside is limited do to his inability to produce extra-base hits. Just two of his 27 hits have gone for extra bases this season.

Marlins | Miami unhappy with Marcell Ozuna

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 21:32:55 -0700

The Miami Marlins haven't been pleased with OF Marcell Ozuna, according to a team official. He has been reportedly running to first base more slowly than last season. Some internally believe he could be in better shape. He also recently made a defensive gaffe which angered team officials and was benched a game for tardiness.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna was a solid FantasyScore option last season with several nice offensive runs, but he is lost this season and not worth using at $3,700 (or 7.4% of cap).

Marlins | Christian Yelich scratched

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 15:41:28 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (lower back) was scratched Tuesday, April 21, against the Philadelphia Phillies, due to lower-back tightness. OF Marcell Ozuna will hit fifth in the order, while OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in left field and bat sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) could be worth a rare start in FantasyScore contests with an excellent matchup against the Phillies and SP Jerome Williams. Suzuki has five hits in 26 plate appearances this season, but is just $200 more than the minimum price on FantasyScore, and will have a nice spot in the Marlins batting order for driving in some runs.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna has day off

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 13:07:32 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is taking the day off Friday, April 17. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in center field and hitting sixth in the batting order against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has four hits in his first 17 at-bats in 2015. At age 41, Suzuki isn't anywhere near the offensive force he was in his days with the Seattle Mariners. However, he excels against right-handed pitchers and is 31-for-95 (.326) with three home runs in his career against Colon. Consider Suzuki a value play as a sleeper at FantasyScore this evening.
