Brewers | Domingo Santana to rehab soon

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 10:44:07 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana (elbow) is hopeful of starting a minor league rehab assignment soon, and it'll probably last for around a week.

Fantasy Tip: Santana has been very slow to heal from his elbow ailment and hasn't played since June 7. Assuming he has no setbacks, he could be back later this month or in early August. Fantasy owners aren't excited to see him back, though, as he was disappointing with a .234 average, four home runs and 13 RBI in 128 at-bats. He could rebound for those in deep mixed and NL-only leagues when he's back, but take a wait-and-see approach.

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 21:32:35 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Santana (.234-4-13) hasn't produced like the team, or fantasy owners, were hoping coming into the season. He'll almost certainly be an everyday player whenever he's activated, but NL-only owners are the only ones that should be stashing him.

Brewers | Domingo Santana back to the DL

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:30:23 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, June 10. The transaction is retroactive to Wednesday, June 8. In a corresponding move, OF Keon Broxton was recalled from Class AAA Colorado Springs.

Fantasy Tip: Santana owns ample upside, but he hasn't shown enough this season to be stashed outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only setups. His .391 slugging percentage hardly moves the fantasy needle. Similarly, Broxton is just 4-for-38 this season, but he does have three stolen bases and could help teams who are in dire need of speed.

Brewers | Domingo Santana has elbow soreness

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 14:41:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana (elbow) is dealing with elbow soreness and is out of the lineup Thursday, June 9. He is being listed as day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Santana was a popular sleeper pick in the later rounds of drafts this spring, but he hasn't done much to impress his owners and just recently returned from a DL stint. His slash line of .234/.347/.391 leaves a lot to be desired, and his power-speed combination is a work in progress. For now, he's valuable depth in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Brewers | Domingo Santana sitting vs. Mets

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 13:56:05 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 9. OF Ramon Flores is starting in right field and is batting eighth against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: This is the second consecutive game out of the lineup for Santana, and he just returned from the disabled list Friday, Jun 3. Perhaps there is more at play here. Flores has done little to excite fantasy owners, and he is likely best avoided outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only setups, and you'll likely also want to pass in daily contests Thursday. Check back for updates on Santana's status.

Brewers | No Domingo Santana Wednesday

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 14:33:30 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. OF Ramon Flores is starting in right field and is batting eighth against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn.

Fantasy Tip: Flores isn't much of an offensive force and has only 27 hits in 120 at-bats (.225) with one home run and 10 RBI. He's a desperation low-end flyer in daily formats this evening.

Brewers | Domingo Santana hitting second

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 14:21:09 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is hitting second against Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea Tuesday, June 7, with 2B Scooter Gennett out of the lineup against a left-handed pitcher. 3B Aaron Hill moves to second base, while 3B Hernan Perez is starting at the hot corner and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Santana sees a slight boost in his daily value for the day, but he's mainly been a disappointment for fantasy owners with a .242/.356/.403 slash line with four home runs and 13 RBI on the year. Santana is a work in progress at the plate but should develop more power and consistent results over time. Hill and Perez are low-end daily considerations.
