Twins | Three Twins starters on the bench

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 09:33:52 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Robbie Grossman, SS Eduardo Escobar and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Sunday, July 24. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop, while 1B Kennys Vargas will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting seven, while C Juan Centeno will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is hitting .211 with one RBI over the last seven days and probably will not be the best starting candidate for most owners. Rosario should be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues because he is hitting .396 with two home runs and seven RBI in July. Centeno is hitting .245 this season and would only have value in two-catcher leagues.

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 13:40:00 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer is out of the lineup Saturday, July 23, with 1B Kennys Vargas hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas has a decent .308-3-4 line in 39 at-bats. He's a low-end option against David Price.

Twins | Kennys Vargas takes a seat vs. Boston

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 12:47:51 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Kennys Vargas is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. SS Eduardo Escobar draws into the lineup at shortstop and is batting sixth against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is 12-for-39 with a .718 slugging percentage over 12 games since being recalled. If you're chasing power, he's a worthy add in all settings. Escobar is nothing more than a desperation flier in daily contests and depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only seasonal leagues.

Twins | No Kennys Vargas against Tigers

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 13:15:28 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Kennys Vargas is not in the starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers Monday, July 18.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is 11-for-29 since being recalled and has nine runs, three home runs and four RBI with a 1.382 OPS during the nine-game stretch. He's worth owning in all cavernous mixed and AL-only settings because of his power upside, and it isn't out of the question to add Vargas in shallower leagues if you're chasing home runs.

Twins | Minnesota resting three players

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 09:51:24 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer, 3B Miguel Sano and CB Byron Buxton are not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin Sunday, July 17. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at third base, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. 1B Kennys Vargas will start at first base and is batting third. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting sixth, while OF Danny Santana will start in center field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is hitting .400 with three home runs and four RBI since being recalled from the minor leagues and should be a decent option in daily fantasy leagues. Rosario has 12 hits in his last five games and should be used in starting lineups. Santana has at least one hit in five of his last seven games, but owners probably will be able to find better options.

Twins | Kennys Vargas on homer tear

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 13:13:47 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Kennys Vargas has three home runs in his last six games, including one hit Sunday, July 10, against the Texas Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas was clearly overmatched last season and deserved to go back to the minors for more seasoning. Has he turned the corner? Either way, since he really doesn't have a regular place to play yet Vargas might best be used in daily formats, especially with that bat hot right now.

Twins | Kennys Vargas posts pair of doubles

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 22:59:26 -0700

Minnesota Twins DH Kennys Vargas went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk and two runs scored Saturday, July 9, against the Texas Rangers to push his average to a gaudy .467.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is back and he has hit safely in four straight with three multi-hit performances. He has nice power and could be a solid addition in most AL-only leagues and some deeper mixed formats if the power surge continues into the second half.

Twins | Joe Mauer not in Friday lineup

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:56:35 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 8, against the Texas Rangers. 1B Kennys Vargas is starting and batting sixth against Rangers SP Cole Hamels.

Fantasy Tip: Despite seven hits in his last three games, Mauer earns a bench spot with a lefty in the lineup Friday. Vargas has two homers and a .375 average in his first three games since being recalled from Class AAA Rochester. As long as he is pretty hot with the bat, consider him for daily starts in DFS formats.

Twins | Joe Mauer, Eduardo Escobar out

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:18:21 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Joe Mauer and SS Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea Tuesday, July 5. 1B Kennys Vargas will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. OF Danny Santana will start in left field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas went hitless in his only other start of the season, so owners outside of AL-only leagues should avoid him. Santana is hitting only .188 over the last seven days and is not a strong fantasy option.
