Astros | Three Astros starts not playing

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 14:12:23 -0700

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker, OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Tuesday, July 26. 3B Luis Valbuena will start at third base, while SS Alex Bregman will serve as the designated hitter. 1B Marwin Gonzalez will start at first base and is batting second. C Evan Gattis will start at catcher and is batting fifth. OF Jake Marisnick will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is currently on a nine-game hitting streak and has two RBI during that span. Gonzalez can be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues during his hot streak. Gattis should be an attractive option in leagues because he is hitting .278 with three home runs and five RBI over the last seven days. Marisnick is hitting .333 this month but is still not a strong fantasy option.

Astros | A.J. Reed, Jason Castro out

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 16:12:25 -0700

Houston Astros 1B A.J. Reed and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Dillon Overton Tuesday, July 19. OF Carlos Gomez will serve as the designated hitter, while OF Jake Marisnick will start at center field and is batting ninth. C Evan Gattis will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick is hitting only .200 this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Gattis is hitting only .147 in July but is still a decent fantasy player in two-catcher leagues because of his power potential.

Astros | Colby Rasmus remains sidelined Saturday

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 12:25:39 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus (ear) is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman Saturday, July 9. INF/OF Marwin Gonzalez will bat leadoff and play left field. In addition, C/DH Evan Gattis will bat seventh and serve as the designated hitter, C Jason Castro will start behind the plate and bat eighth and OF Jake Marisnick will play right field and hit ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is a useful player to have in AL-only seasonal leagues due to his positional versatility but he is not a great option in DFS today. Gattis is just 1-for-18 during the month of July and should also be avoided, while Castro and Marisnick are not recommended options in any fantasy format.

Astros | Colby Rasmus out vs. Oakland

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:22:58 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 8. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and batting eighth against Oakland Athletics SP Daniel Mengden Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Following a hot start to the season, Rasmus has struggled since Sunday, May 1, with a .237/.292/.333 slash line and just four home runs through 52 games. He's nothing more than a fringe starter in deep mixed leagues at this point. Marisnick boasts a power-speed combo, but he's been a fantasy disaster this season (.497 OPS) and can't be started with confidence in any format Friday.

Astros | Colby Rasmus, A.J. Reed sit against southpaw

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 14:25:32 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and 1B A.J. Reed are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Rich Hill Thursday, July 7. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and is hitting eighth, while INF Marwin Gonzalez is at first base and batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Against the tough lefty Hill, Rasmus and Reed are both being rested. Marisnick has some speed and is perhaps more useful in real life than fantasy for his defense. He's a low-end outfield pick in DFS. Gonzalez, on the other hand, is much more attractive as a value pick hitting high in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is hitting only .200 with two RBI over the last seven days and probably can be avoided in most leagues. Marisnick is still hitting under .200 this season and does not have much value in most leagues.

Astros | Several Houston regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:39:04 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus, C Jason Castro and 1B A.J. Reed are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Saturday, July 2. INF Marwin Gonzalez will hit second and play first base, C Evan Gattis will start behind the plate and bat sixth, INF Danny Worth will bat eighth and play second base and OF Jake Marisnick will bat ninth and play left field. 2B Jose Altuve is serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis is batting .429 over the past week and is 2-for-6 with a home run versus Sale in his career, making him a viable catching option this afternoon in DFS. Worth and Marisnick are nothing more than desperation sources of salary cap relief.

Astros | Two Astros sitting Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 10:51:12 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 29, with 1B Marwin Gonzalez hitting second and OF Jake Marisnick hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez has a .303-2-9 line this month, and he's a sneaky low-end play against Jered Weaver. Marisnick is hitting just .178 this year, and he's not a good DFS option.
