Miami Marlins OF Jake Marisnick has been working with interim hitting coach John Pierson on his swing. Despite a .184 batting average, manager Mike Redmond said the club intends to give Marisnick chances down the stretch. "We'll give him his reps," Redmond said. "At the end of this year, he will be able to go home and realize what it takes to sustain his swing up here in the Major Leagues, and what to work on."

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich will start in left field and OF Jake Marisnick will be the team's starting center fielder. "These are two guys who definitely are going to improve our defense in the outfield," manager Mike Redmond said. "Jake plays a great center field, and Yelich too. I think those guys will bring excitement and hopefully another boost of energy to this team and this lineup."
Fantasy Tip: Yelich and Marisnick should both be scooped in NL-only leagues if they haven't been already. Marisnick probably has a better shot to contribute better numbers immediately, while Yelich profiles as a better long-term keeper asset. Don't rule out both becoming valuable in deep mixed leagues before the season is over.

The Miami Marlins optioned INF Derek Dietrich and OF Marcell Ozuna to Double-A Jacksonville and will call up OF Christian Yelich and OF Jake Marisnick.
Fantasy Tip: Marisnick is having a solid year in center field at Double-A. He's hitting .294 with 12 homers, 46 RBIs and 11 steals. Yelich is hitting .280 with seven homers and 29 RBIs. Marisnick's skill set could translate into a recipe for success at the major-league level this season, but we question whether Yelich is ready. He was hitting .240 a couple weeks ago before a hot stretch recently. Grab both in NL-only leagues, and Marisnick could become useful in mixed leagues.

The Miami Marlins are receiving multiple inquiries about OF Justin Ruggiano, and while they aren't actively shopping him, they could decide to trade him this summer. The San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates are looking for outfield help. The New York Yankees and Texas Rangers may also be interested. The Marlins aren't motivated to move Ruggiano at the moment, though. OF Christian Yelich (abdominal) just started playing in rehab games last week and OF Jake Marisnick may benefit from more time in the minors. OF Chris Coghlan (calf) has been on the disabled list since June 9 with a nerve issue in his right calf.
Fantasy Tip: Despite the fact that several of Miami's center field options are banged up, don't count the Fish out in trading Ruggiano if they get what they like in return. Marisnick is the most likley option to come up and start in center field if Ruggiano is dealt. Keep an eye on both he and Yelich in NL-only leagues.

Miami Marlins OF Jake Marisnick hit two grand slams and drove in nine runs with Double-A Jacksonville Thursday, May 30.
Fantasy Tip: Marisnick, along with Christian Yelich, is one of the club's top outfield prospects. Marisnick is considered mature for his age and could be deserving of a call-up at some point later this summer, even though he's yet to play above Class AA ball. Keeper leaguers need to have him on their radar already.

The Miami Marlins aren't considering promoting OF Jake Marisnick.
Fantasy Tip: Marisnick is off to a rather slow start at Double-A Jacksonville, and with Christian Yelich heating up, it seems as though Yelich is much closer to a call-up to Miami. Temper your expectations in keeper leagues.

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (heel) was used as the designated hitter in extended spring training Tuesday, April 16, and he went hitless in four at-bats. He's been dealing with a left heel bruise. OFs Jake Marisnick (hand) and Marcell Ozuna (wrist) have also been playing in extended spring training but are now expected to join Single-A Jupiter. Both are expected to move to Double-A Jacksonville in a few days.

Miami Marlins OFs Christian Yelich (heel), Jake Marisnick (hand) and Marcell Ozuna (wrist) will begin the season on the disabled list in the minors. Yelich has a "stone bruise" on his left heel, Marisnick has a broken left hand and Ozuna is dealing with a fractured left wrist. All three were expected to be the starting outfield for Double-A Jacksonville this year. Yelich isn't expected to miss much time, however. He's hoping to play in games this weekend. Marisnick could be back in roughly two weeks. Ozuna might be out for three more weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Yelich had an outstanding spring and was receiving consideration to make the big league roster, but the Marlins prefer to take their time with him. Marisnick is in a similar boat, although he has a bit more experience and might be closer to major-league ready. Both outfielders could see late-season call-ups, though, so be ready in NL-only and keeper leagues.

Miami Marlins 3B Placido Polanco (back) will sit out a few more games while dealing with back spasms. "He's having that same problem," manager Mike Redmond said. "No timetable. He's got to figure out what's going on, what's grabbing on him and where he is." OF Justin Ruggiano (back) is scheduled to play Saturday, March 9, in center field. OF Jake Marisnick (hand) hit in the cages and did fielding drills Friday, March 8. 3B Greg Dobbs (calf) continues to do drills but isn't playing in games.
