Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price said the team won't put too much pressure on OF Billy Hamilton in his first full major league season this year. "I'm not worried about that," Price said. "We're not going to ask him to carry all of the load. If we're going to be the team we think we can be, we have to disperse the responsibility throughout our lineup. We have to ask our bench to give us some energy and performance on days where we need to give guys a blow so they're not overwhelmed."
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton undoubtedly will be overvalued in drafts because of his speed and ability to help you win the stolen base category outright. However, he's only had 19 at-bats in the bigs, and it's unclear if he'll be able to hit enough to justify his draft placement. Be cautious.

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton was already at the team's spring training facility in Arizona to work on his hitting, and especially his bunting. The team feels with his quickness and speed that if he perfects the art of bunting, it will make things very difficult for opponents. Hamilton is working with his former manager, Double-A Pensacola skipper and former MLB speed demon Delino DeShields. "It's been good. I've been working on my bunting a lot more, and me and him are doing things with my hitting that will help me out this season," Hamilton said. "When spring training comes, I will be ready."
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton is expected to be the team's new leadoff hitter and center fielder. His ability to rack up silly stolen base totals and runs scored will make him a fantasy favorite in rotisserie leagues, and a solid outfielder in most other formats.

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton will head into next season as the projected starting center fielder and leadoff hitter. "He's the guy," general manager Walt Jocketty said. "We feel confident he can be a good leadoff hitter. He'll give us great defense. The only question is how often he can get on base. He'll start working on his bunting again after the first of the year. If he can master that, it will really help him." Hamilton hit .227 with a .284 on-base percentage in 75 at-bats in the Puerto Rican Winter League.

The Cincinnati Reds called up OF Billy Hamilton from Triple-A Louisville.
Fantasy Tip: He's not in the lineup today, and Cincinnati is facing Yadier Molina for four games. Molina neutralizes the running game like no one else in the game. Pick him up, but be patient.

The Cincinnati Reds are expected to recall OF Billy Hamilton from Triple-A Louisville when rosters expand in September.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known what Hamilton's exact role will be, but he likely will be used as a mostly a pinch runner and get a few starts. Owners in deeper leagues could consider picking up Hamilton if they need steals, but playing time likely will hurt his value.

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker indicated Wednesday, Aug. 21, that OF Billy Hamilton could get the nod to come up to the big club when rosters expand Sept. 1. Baker even expects Hamilton would do more than serve as a pinch hitter or runner. "I hope he'll be able to do a little more than that," Baker said. "Even though it's no time to experiment when going for the pennant."
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton might be worth stashing away in deeper NL-only fantasy leagues. He is especially useful in rotisserie formats for help in the steals category, as he could help you scoot up the charts in a hurry.
