Reds | Billy Hamilton starts throwing

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 11:19:03 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (shoulder) resumed throwing Wednesday, Sept. 2, for the first time since his injury Aug. 18. Manager Bryan Price said Hamilton is pain-free in his activities. Hamilton is unlikely to be able to rehab in games in the minor leagues with the season ending in five days.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) must be retained in all leagues because of his world-class speed. He could still push you over the top in the stolen base category if he's able to return sometime in this final month of the season.

Reds | Billy Hamilton rehab update

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 21:10:52 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (shoulder) is not close to resuming baseball activities. He is still required to wear a shoulder harness for periods of time every day and participates in physical therapy.

Fantasy Tip: As one of the most feared baserunners in the league, Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) should remain stashed in all fantasy formats despite his subpar offensive numbers. Jason Bourgeois ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Skip Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will continue to platoon in center field but should be ignored in FantasyScore.

Reds | Billy Hamilton placed on DL

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 12:31:44 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right shoulder capsule Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Hamilton's ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) poor offensive numbers this year, he remains the best stolen base threat in the major leagues, and he should be held onto in all formats. Jason Bourgeois and Skip Schumaker can platoon in the outfield to replace Hamilton, but neither move the dial much at all in any fantasy format.

Reds | Billy Hamilton has career night

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 04:47:10 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton scored four runs and had four hits, both career highs, as the Reds topped the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-3 on Thursday, Aug. 13. Hamilton entered the game in a 5-for-22 slump.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) could gain a few FantasyScore dollars off this outing, but the reality is he is a streaky player. He'll definitely steal 70 to 80 bases a season, if not more, but the problem with him is just getting on base, His electric ability alone is what keeps him an ideal start.

Reds | Billy Hamilton leading off

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 09:54:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is hitting leadoff against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has struggled to get on base this year with a .267 on-base percentage, but he's still managed to steal 52 bases in 59 attempts. Using him on FantasyScore when he's hitting leadoff maximizes his value and gives you the best chance for return on your investment.

Reds | Billy Hamilton dropped back to nine-hole

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 14:57:58 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is batting ninth against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy Monday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) went 2-for-9 over the past two games hitting leadoff but finds himself back at the bottom of the lineup Monday. He is a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore option because of his speed, but his .265 on-base percentage doesn't instill a lot of confidence.

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is out of the lineup Thursday, Aug. 6, with OF Jason Bourgeois hitting second.

Reds | Billy Hamilton dodges bullet

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 20:53:44 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (leg) rammed his right leg into the outfield wall in a game Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the St. Louis Cardinals. However, he winced and stretched his leg, but remained in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) finished hitless in three at-bats to drop his average to .225. While it was good he could finish the game, playing in pain with an injury to his legs certainly doesn't help.

Reds | Billy Hamilton out of lineup

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 07:55:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton isn't in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will remain a high upside option once he returns to the lineup as his 51 stolen bases on the season lead the major leagues.

Reds | Billy Hamilton collects three hits

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 19:26:24 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton tied a season-high with three hits in five at-bats in the second game of a doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, July 22, with two doubles and two RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is only batting .226 this season but perhaps this is a sign that he's starting to turn things around. After batting ninth for much of the year, Hamilton went 1-for-4 with two RBIs as the No. 7 hitter during the first game of the doubleheader and was moved to the leadoff spot for the nightcap. FantasyScore owners may want to avoid using him for another game or two just to make sure this wasn't a fluke.
