Reds | Billy Hamilton streaking

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 21:47:07 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases in a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs Friday, April 24, and he has hit safely in six straight games.

Fantasy Tip: During the streak, Hamilton ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has scored six runs and stolen three bases, and he currently ranks second in the NL in runs and first in steals. He offers a ton of upside because of his speed, and when he is actually reaching base with regularity like he is now, he is a great mid-range option at FantasyScore.

Reds | Billy Hamilton returns to lineup

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 12:20:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (groin) is batting leadoff and playing center field against the Milwaukee Brewers Monday, April 20. Hamilton did not play Sunday, April 19, because of a sore right groin.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been a terror on the base paths, and each stolen base is worth 2.0 FantasyScore points. Despite his struggles at the plate (8-for-41, .267 OBP), he still has a league-leading eight stolen bases this season. Consider Hamilton a risk/reward play in daily contests Monday.

Reds | Billy Hamilton day-to-day

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 18:46:44 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (groin) is day-to-day with a sore right groin, and his availability for the game against the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, April 19, is in doubt.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) derives a lot of his fantasy value from his speed, and a groin injury could limit his base-stealing ability. We suggest waiting until he proves he is 100% before using him at FantasyScore going forward.

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 13:16:12 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (groin) left the game Saturday, April 18, with an apparent right groin injury while running to first base.

Fantasy Tip: Skip Schumaker ($1,600, 3.2% of your cap) would fill in if Hamilton misses time. Schumaker doesn't have a lot of luster on FantasyScore.

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (finger) is back in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta Tuesday, April 14. Hamilton is starting in center field and hitting leadoff, as usual.

Reds | Billy Hamilton available

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 14:32:01 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (finger) said he will be available to play Monday, April 13, if needed. Hamilton is dealing with a sore finger he suffered in the game Friday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) could be used as a pinch runner during the game and help owners with his stolen base potential. Since Hamilton is not in the starting lineup Monday, he would be a risky option for owners on FantasyScore.

Reds | Billy Hamilton not in lineup vs. Cubs

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 12:41:23 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs Monday, April 13. OF Kris Negron is batting first and playing center field Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Hamilton from your daily lineups Monday. There is no indication on whether his absence in the lineup is injury related, so it is worth checking back for updates. Negron ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Monday, as he has flashed some upside when called upon -- .273/.343/.473 slash line through 150 career at-bats.

Reds | Billy Hamilton working on bunts

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 13:17:12 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is working on his bunt skills in order to get on base more. Hamilton worked along with Delino DeShields, a former major leaguer and current manager at Triple-A Louisville.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields was a base stealer in his days with the Montreal Expos, and Hamilton would do well to learn from the likes of him. If he could get on base more Hamilton is capable of 80-100 stolen bases a season, but he's only worth a middle or late-round selection because of his struggles at the plate.

Reds | Billy Hamilton cleared for BP

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 11:34:54 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (shoulder) has been cleared to take batting practice.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton is dealing with a sore right shoulder that's not believed to be serious. Fantasy owners can breathe a little easier now that he's cleared to swing. Hamilton will be an expensive stolen-base asset in 2015 fantasy baseball drafts, but it could pay off in what should be a much more productive lineup in Cincy.
