Mets | Michael Conforto, Lucas Duda out of lineup

Mon, 23 May 2016 12:30:28 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto and 1B Lucas Duda (back) are not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals left-handed SP Gio Gonzalez Monday, May 23. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and batting second with OF Yoenis Cespedes shifting to left field. 3B Eric Campbell is starting at first base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares is more known for his defense but could be a sleeper consideration hitting out of the two-hole in daily lineups. Campbell has only nine hits in 42 at-bats this year (.214) and should be avoided.

Mets | Michael Conforto sitting vs. Nats

Wed, 18 May 2016 14:13:29 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 18. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and batting second against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: It has been a rough second month of the season for Conforto. He has a .137/.241/.216 slash line and just two home runs and three RBI. It isn't out of the question to suggest a sophomore slump could be catching up to him. Lagares posted a .273/.333/.438 line through 132 plate appearances against lefties last season and batting second makes him a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Wednesday.

Mets | Michael Conforto, Lucas Duda both out

Thu, 12 May 2016 15:55:15 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto (rest) and 1B Lucas Duda (rest) are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 12, versus Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw. 3B Eric Campbell gets the start at first base, batting eighth, while OF Juan Lagares is in center field and hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: This is just standard protocol for the Mets whenever they face a left-handed pitcher, as Conforto and Duda both struggle against southpaws. And whenever this is the case, let alone opposite the best pitcher in the game, owners can immediately look past it. Campbell is basically the definition of a dead bat, while Lagares typically has a low ceiling, being known more for his glove.

Mets | Curtis Granderson, Lucas Duda resting

Tue, 10 May 2016 15:48:07 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and 1B Lucas Duda are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Alex Wood Tuesday, May 10. OF Juan Lagares is starting in right field and hitting leadoff, while 3B Eric Campbell is starting at first base and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Wood has struggled mightily in the Dodgers rotation, but both Lagares and Campbell remain low-end daily commodities. If you're going to choose one as a deep sleeper to save you some salary cap space, it should be Lagares at the top of the order. But keep in mind he's much more useful to the Mets for his glove and not his bat.

Mets | Michael Conforto not playing Monday

Mon, 09 May 2016 15:58:32 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto (rest) is not in the starting batting order Monday, May 9. OF Juan Lagares gets the start instead opposite Los Angeles Dodgers SP Scott Kazmir. He's batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: This is just the standard for when the Mets tangle with a left-handed starter, as Conforto doesn't hit southpaws well. Lagares, however, is not an ideal plugin for daily leagues, considering he's really just an average hitter at best.

Mets | Michael Conforto, Neil Walker sitting

Fri, 06 May 2016 16:45:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto and 2B Neil Walker are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres left-handed SP Drew Pomeranz Friday, May 6. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and is hitting second, while SS Wilmer Flores is at the keystone and is batting seventh. OF Yoenis Cespedes shifts to left field.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is the more attractive daily gamble as a deep sleeper because of his power abilities, but neither he nor Lagares will be considered by many tonight against Pomeranz.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 07:36:28 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson, SS Asdrubal Cabrera and 1B Lucas Duda are not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Sunday, May 1. OF Juan Lagares will bat leadoff and play right field, INF Wilmer Flores will bat sixth and play shortstop and INF Eric Campbell will bat eighth and play first base. In addition, C Kevin Plawecki has returned to the lineup and will bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson and Duda are resting because a left-handed pitcher is on the mound, while the switch-hitting Cabrera is receiving his first off day of the regular season. Of the replacements in Sunday's lineup, only Lagares has experienced any success at the plate this year, batting .281 with two extra-base hits and two RBI through his first 32 at-bats. Lagares should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option in daily fantasy contests.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes remains sidelined

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 11:48:21 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (knee) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and is batting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Jon Moscot.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes came up with a huge three-run pinch-hit home run last night, so you would think he's close to returning to the lineup. At least it looks like he'll avoid a DL stint. As soon as he's back in there you'll want to return him to all of your starting lineups. Lagares is more known for his defense and is a low-end outfield option in daily setups.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes out Tuesday

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:31:04 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (knee) is out for the fourth consecutive game Tuesday, April 26, against the Cincinnati Reds. OF Juan Lagares is in the lineup and will bat seventh against Reds SP Brandon Finnegan.

Fantasy Tip: Mets general manager Sandy Alderson does not think Cespedes is headed for the disabled list, so keep him in your lineup in weekly or annual leagues. Daily-contest participants obviously should look elsewhere until Cespedes returns. Lagares has a .385 average in the last week and makes a decent daily substitute.

Mets | Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores to play Tuesday

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 15:45:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares and SS Wilmer Flores will be in the starting lineup when the Mets face Miami Marlins left-handed SP Adam Conley Tuesday, April 12. OF Yoenis Cespedes will likely move to left field, with OF Michael Conforto moving to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: It will be the first lefty that the Mets have faced this year. Conley is an up-and-coming young arm for the Marlins. Lagares isn't much of a threat with the stick and is a low-end daily option, while Flores has some pop for a shortstop but also won't move the needle much.
