Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson should improve on his 2.9 yards per carry average in 2014, according to Kevin Bowen of Colts.com. Bowen believes Richardson will benefit from playing in the same offensive system for the second year in a row for the first time in his NFL career.
Fantasy Tip: Richardson will get the first shot at starting this season and has some upside, but with his poor play last season and Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard waiting to steal carries, he should be viewed as a low-end RB2.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson will need to produce right away in the running game if he wants to keep the starting job, because the team will not wait for him to turn things around if RB Ahmad Bradshaw or Vick Ballard are playing well.
Fantasy Tip: Richardson is getting the first chance to start, but he could find himself on the bench if he fails to produce. Richardson should be considered a low-end No. 2 running back in drafts this season. Owners could consider taking a late-round flier on Bradshaw or Ballard since there is a chance they could take over the starting job if Richardson falters, but it is not known which back would have more value at this point.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson has greatly benefitted from extra time spent in the classroom, according to offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. Hamilton said Richardson will be better this season after facing a tough situation following his trade to Indianapolis.
Fantasy Tip: There are high, or at least higher, expectations for Richardson in his second season with the Colts. From what's been said this offseason, it sounds like he's improving nicely. He should be the Colts' starting running back, but RBs Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard will also be involved. Richardson should be considered a low-end RB2 in standard leagues with more upside in PPR leagues.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson will be given the first shot at starting running back. He is more talented than RBs Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard, and the Colts don't want to show that their trade for him last September was a failure.
Fantasy Tip: Due to Richardson's poor 2013 season, he stands to reward nicely as an RB2. Bradshaw and Ballard are late-round fliers.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson is using his instincts when running instead of thinking the play through, according to coaches. Richardson has a chance to be a three-down player.
Fantasy Tip: If Richardson can prove to be a three-down player, his fantasy stock will surely rise. He's currently listed as the team's No. 1 running back in front of Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard. For now, consider him a weak RB2 in standard leagues.

Indianapolis Colts RBs Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw wore red non-contact jerseys during organized team activities as they compete for the team's starting running back role. That battle is expected to intensify during training camp, but both will see playing time, no matter who is the official starter. Head coach Chuck Pagano has stated he wants a workhorse running back, however.
Fantasy Tip: Our money would be on Richardson to be that workhorse for the Colts. Bradshaw and Vick Ballard are coming off injuries and Richardson needs this season to prove he wasn't a trade bust. If the Colts continue to use Richardson in the passing game the way they did later on in the 2013 season, he should be a safe PPR RB3 with RB2 potential. It's best to use more caution with Bradshaw, who is currently listed as the team's No. 3 running back.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said he's feeling more fluid at organized team activities. He added that timing has helped him better understand how the offense works.
Fantasy Tip: Richardson was one of the bigger disappointments from a fantasy perspective last year. And while this is good news, itís still best to approach with caution. He shouldn't be drafted higher than a low-end RB2 at this point in standard leagues.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said he was up to 240 pounds because he "ate well" in the offseason and was limited in what he could accomplish cardio-wise after his shoulder surgery. He's now lost 15 pounds and is back to 225 pounds.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said after reviewing tape of the 2013 season he thinks he was trying to do too much. "It's human. But you can't hit the home run. You have to set up your runs," Richardson said. "That's one thing, (because of) not having as much success as I've always had, you catch yourself saying, 'I gotta score, I gotta score.' "

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said it will be important for RB Trent Richardson to participate in all of the offseason workouts so he can get more comfortable with the offense. "He wants to be great. He's got all the talent. He's got all the ability. We would have never done what we did if we didn't believe that deep down in our core. So we look for him to have a great offseason and to have a great 2014 campaign," Pagano said.
