The New York Yankees optioned 2B David Adams and OF Zoilo Almonte to Double-A Trenton Friday, March 16. The team also optioned INF Corban Joseph and OF Melky Mesa to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The New York Yankees signed 19 players to one-year contracts for the 2012 season Wednesday, March 7. The players signed were Ps Cory Wade, Michael Pineda, David Phelps, Ivan Nova, D.J. Mitchell, Brad Meyers, George Kontos, Cesar Cabral and Dellin Betances, Cs Austin Romine and Francisco Cervelli, INFs Ramiro Pena, Eduardo Nunez, Brandon Laird, Corban Joseph and David Adams and OFs Melky Mesa, Justin Maxwell and Zoilo Almonte. Financial terms weren't given.

New York Yankees OF Zoilo Almonte entered the day with five hits in five at-bats this spring, but he was 0-for-1 Tuesday, March 6, against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Grapefruit League play.
