Mariners | Seattle crushing lefties

Wed, 18 May 2016 15:10:07 -0700

The Seattle Mariners lead the majors in home runs (21) against left-handed pitchers this year, with the Tampa Bay Rays (18) ranked second. OF Nelson Cruz is tied with four other players with five home runs against lefties, and he leads all players with 19 home runs against southpaws since the start of 2015. 3B Kyle Seager is second with 17 homers against lefties since the start of 2015, and he has four this year.

Fantasy Tip: This just shows you that starting a lefty pitcher against Seattle is risky business if they are a midrange starter. Cruz is a must-start in all formats, but he's worth paying up for in DFS against southpaws. Seager, a left-handed hitter, should never be benched against lefties.

Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday, May 17.

Mariners | Kyle Seager's hit streak ends

Wed, 11 May 2016 23:11:07 -0700

Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager went hitless in four at-bats with a walk and RBI Wednesday, May 11, against the Tampa Bay Rays to snap am 11-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Seager is still hitting .375 (18-for-48) over his past 12 games. He started out rather slowly, but has re-emerged as a must-start fantasy option across all formats and DFS play.

Mariners | Kyle Seager continues to rake

Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Friday, May 6, against the Houston Astros to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

Fantasy Tip: Seager is hitting .414 (12-for-29) during his hitting streak, and he has six runs scored and nine RBIs during the span. He is still hitting just .213 overall for the season, but he has shown signs of life at the dish lately to calm his nervous fantasy owners.

Mariners | Kyle Seager, Adam Lind struggling

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 15:34:51 -0700

Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager came into the game Tuesday, April 19, hitting only .119 (5-for-42) with a .483 on-base plus slugging percentage. 1B Adam Lind has only five hits in 29 at-bats with no walks.

Fantasy Tip: The M's face a trio of right-handers against the Cleveland Indians this week, so they could help both players get going at the plate. Both should get going eventually, but it's not out of the question to consider benching them in traditional formats until they get going.

Mariners | Kyle Seager not in the lineup

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 07:53:42 -0700

Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Saturday, April 16. 3B Luis Sardinas will start at third base and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Sardinas has seen limited playing time over the first few weeks of the season and is batting only .231. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better players to use in their lineups.

Mariners | Ketel Marte dropped to ninth

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 09:16:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is being dropped to ninth in the batting order Wednesday, April 6, after hitting second the first two games of the season. 3B Kyle Seager moves up to the two hole Wednesday against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: Marte has started the season off 0-for-9 but hasn't struck out at all. The speedy youngster was rushed to the majors last year and held his own, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him struggle in 2016. His lineup drop makes him less attractive in daily formats, but Marte's speed keeps him relevant in mixed leagues as a low-end shortstop option.

Mariners | Kyle Seager, Adam Lind move up

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 08:20:35 -0700

Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager is hitting second Wednesday, April 6, and 1B Adam Lind is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: The lefty-hitting duo is facing their first right-hander of the season. Seager should be in your lineups regardless, but Lind has some upside today after he hit seventh the season opener. Lind is a low-end option at the position.
