San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko (foot) is still a long ways from returning to the field, according to manager Bud Black, although Gyorko could have his walking boot removed from his left foot as soon as Friday, June 20. "He's not even close to coming off (the disabled list). He's still in a mode of shutdown. He's very limited in activity," Black said. "The foot isn't healing very quickly, so it's going to be a while before we see Jedd."
Fantasy Tip: Jace Peterson has an extended window in order to convince the Friars that he can stick at the keystone. Gyorko's foot injury is one that could bother him for the rest of the season, as well. Perhaps the Padres have him work out his hitting issues in the minors when he's fully healthy.

The San Diego Padres placed 2B Jedd Gyorko (foot) on the 15-day disabled list with left foot plantar fasciitis Friday, June 6, and removed SP Eric Stults from the bereavement list in a corresponding move. Gyorko's DL stint is retroactive to June 4.
Fantasy Tip: Well then. This isn't an unsurprising move, but the fact that Gyorko has been this dreadful this year has. Plantar fasciitis is a very tricky injury, and one that can disable a player for much of the year. See Albert Pujols in 2013. Jace Peterson now has an open window to seize valuable everyday playing time at second base. He can help tremendously with his speed and on-base abilities in NL-only and deep mixed universes.
