The Texas Rangers are refusing to part with INF Jurickson Profar in any potential deal with the Tampa Bay Rays for a starting pitcher. However, the names of prospects such as 1B Ronald Guzman and SP Yohander Mendez have reportedly been discussed.
Fantasy Tip: The Rangers have been linked to Rays SP Matt Moore and Jake Odorizzi for a while but want to keep the 23-year-old Profar, who is batting .298 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 43 games. He should be owned in all leagues due to his versatility and upside and should see a great deal of playing time over the next few weeks with OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) and 1B Prince Fielder (neck) on the DL. Guzman is a 21-year-old left-handed hitter who is batting .300 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI for Class AA Frisco and Mendez is a 21-year-old lefty who is 9-2 with a 2.75 ERA in 16 starts at three different minor league levels this season, with 89 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings. Both players should be monitored in AL-only and dynasty formats.
