Rays | Tampa to play matchups in ninth

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:41:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said the team will "play matchup game, piecing it together" in the ninth inning with RP Alex Colome (biceps) injured. RPs Erasmo Ramirez, Matt Andriese and Xavier Cedeno are all likely to figure in.

Fantasy Tip: Colome's injury isn't serious and he could be back as soon as July 4, so don't invest heavily in Tampa's ninth-inning picture without him in the short term. Ramirez is likely your best bet if you're desperate for saves in the meantime, but temper your expectations.

Rays | Matt Andriese earns win in relief

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 21:46:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese worked 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, June 15, to pick up his sixth win of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Recently moved to the bullpen, Andriese didn't allow a hit in his first relief appearance and was rewarded with a win to move him to 6-0 on the year. You have to figure he'll get another crack at the rotation, and as such he's worth stashing in AL-only leagues.

Rays | Blake Snell tapped to start Thursday

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 13:21:15 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Blake Snell will be recalled from the minors for a start Thursday, June 16. SP Matt Andriese has been sent to the bullpen in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: From the sounds of this, Snell is up for the long haul. Andriese has been a decent starter so this move to the bullpen comes as a minor surprise. Pick up Snell in deeper leagues, and if you can stash Andriese on your bench go ahead and do it. There's a good chance Andriese may get another rotation chance.
