Rays | Matt Moore, Matt Andriese pitching Tuesday

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:27:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SPs Matt Moore and Matt Andriese will pitch in the doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, July 7. Moore will pitch in the first game and Andriese will go in Game 2.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is once again a risky pitcher on FantasyScore tomorrow against the Royals, a team that strikes out rarely. Moore allowed four earned runs and walked two in 4 2/3 innings in his first start of the season last week. Andriese won't be available to use in the second game.

Rays | Matt Andriese optioned

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 10:50:53 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese was optioned to the minors Sunday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: With Matt Moore's return looming later this week, Andriese's ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) rotation spot was expendable. Moore, coming back from Tommy John surgery, can definitely help fantasy owners in all formats, and he should be added immediately if he's still available.

Rays | Matt Andriese called up to start

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 05:12:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese was recalled from Class AAA Durham to start Friday, June 12, against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Andriese pitched in long relief earlier this season and picked up a couple of three-plus-inning saves. He didn't miss a lot of bats and had a 4.79 ERA in the bullpen. Give him a start or two before considering him on FantasyScore.

Rays | Jake Odorizzi scratched Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 07:50:53 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi (illness) will not make his scheduled start Saturday, May 9, because of an illness. The team will recall P Matt Andriese from Triple-A Durham to make the start.

Fantasy Tip: Odorizzi ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has been pitching well this season and has a good chance to make his next scheduled start, but owners should monitor the situation. Andriese is probably not a great option to use in any league.

Rays | Matt Andriese roughed up again

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 17:23:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese was chased prior to the end of the fourth inning for the second time in two starts this season, Sunday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Andriese ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is in jeopardy of losing his spot in the Rays' rotation, after allowing four runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings pitched. Andriese is scheduled to face the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday, April 25, but FantasyScore owners should be staying away until they see positive results from the rookie.

Rays | Matt Andriese to start Sunday

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 14:14:20 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese will receive another start against the New York Yankees Sunday, April 19, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Andriese ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has had a decent start to the season, gooing 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings over one start. However, he won't light up the stat line with strikeouts, and he'll be a weak play at FantasyScore against the Yanks.

Rays | Matt Andriese to start Tuesday

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 15:18:41 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese will start against the Toronto Blue Jays on the road Tuesday, April 14, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Andriese ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be avoided at all costs against the Blue Jays lineup, especially in Toronto.

Rays | Matt Andriese could be fifth starter

Wed, 01 Apr 2015 18:07:09 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese might still make the 25-man roster, perhaps as a member of the bullpen. The team also needs a fifth starter for April 14, so he could work then. "There are still roles to fill and competition to play this out a little bit, but I think Matt, he's in a good spot," manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday, April 1.

Fantasy Tip: Andriese appeared to be in line for the No. 4 rotation job until the acquisition of Erasmo Ramirez Tuesday. Andriese could get a start or two in the first month when the team needs a fifth starter, but FantasyScore owners will want to play wait and see with him. He could be a deep sleeper if and when he gets a chance to start.

Rays | Alex Colome likely to win rotation spot

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 11:50:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome is the favorite to win the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation, even though he remains at the organization's facility in the Dominican Republic because of visa issues. SPs Matt Andriese and Burch Smith are also in the running for the job.

Fantasy Tip: Colome has a leg up on the competition because he is out of options. He is expected to hold a rotation spot until Matt Moore returns from Tommy John surgery in late June or early July. He should be monitored in deep AL-only leagues.
