Mon, 06 May 2013 12:32:49 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Gavin Floyd (elbow) will undergo season-ending surgery to fix a tear in the flexor muscle in his right elbow Tuesday, May 7. Floyd will also have the ulnar collateral ligament repaired during surgery, and he's expected to miss anywhere from 14 to 19 months. Fantasy Tip: Floyd can be dropped in all formats, obviously. He's likely pitched his last game in a White Sox uniform, too. Hector Santiago should now be a fixture in the rotation until John Danks (shoulder) returns later this month or in early June. Jake Peavy (back) could also land on the disabled list, so there is plenty of opportunity for Santiago to stick in the rotation even longer. He should be owned even deep mixed leagues.
Sun, 05 May 2013 09:39:39 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale will start against the Kansas City Royals Monday, May 6, in place of injured SP Jake Peavy (back). Sale was originally scheduled to pitch against the New York Mets Tuesday, May 7, but SP Hector Santiago will instead pitch on four days' rest. Fantasy Tip: There is a possibility that Peavy could pitch against the Mets Wednesday, May 8, but the team has not ruled out placing him on the disabled list.
Fri, 03 May 2013 10:09:00 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Gavin Floyd (elbow) tentatively plans to undergo Tommy John surgery on his torn elbow ligament. Fantasy Tip: Floyd will be finished for the rest of this season and at least the first month or so of next season. This means that Hector Santiago will enter the rotation on a full-time basis. He filled in for Jake Peavy (back spasms) last night against the Rangers. Santiago should be owned in all AL leagues at this point, and now that he'll be a fixture in the rotation, deep mixed leaguers should take a look, too.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:09:02 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (back) has been scratched from his start against the Texas Rangers Thursday, May 2, due to back spasms. Fantasy Tip: Peavy has been dinged up in the past several seasons, but it's unknown if he'll need a disabled list stint for his back spasms. Hector Santiago is taking Peavy's spot, and he'll be on regular rest after replacing Gavin Floyd (elbow) in the rotation last weekend. Santiago is a decent target in mixed leagues, but his matchup against the Rangers tonight might not be the best time to run him out there.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 09:19:36 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP Hector Santiago will replace injured SP Gavin Floyd (arm) in the team's starting rotation.
Wed, 20 Mar 2013 10:26:02 -0700 Chicago White Sox SP John Danks (shoulder) allowed 10 runs and 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings Tuesday, March 19, and the team is unsure if he's ready to pitch when the regular season starts April 1. SPs Hector Santiago and Dylan Axelrod are the two options to replace Danks in the rotation if he has to start on the disabled list. Danks has given up 21 runs in 10 spring innings. Fantasy Tip: Danks doesn't look right after undergoing arthroscopic left shoulder surgery last August. It's probably safe to wait and see with the southpaw before trusting him with a roster spot in your fantasy rotation.
Mon, 25 Feb 2013 07:14:33 -0800 Chicago White Sox P Hector Santiago is being stretched out as a starter this spring.
Fri, 22 Feb 2013 08:40:28 -0800 The Chicago White Sox signed Ps Dylan Axelrod, Simon Castro, Deunte Heath, Nathan Jones, Charlie Leesman, Jhan Marinez, Nestor Molina, Brian Omogrosso, Jose Quintana, Addison Reed, Adriene Rienzo, Santos Rodriguez, Chris Sale, Hector Santiago, Leyson Septimo and Donnie Veal; Cs Tyler Flowers, Hector Gimenez and Josh Phegley; INFs Brent Morel and Angel Sanchez; and OFs Jordan Danks, Jared Mitchell, Blake Tekotte and Dayan Viciedo to one-year deals.
Tue, 12 Feb 2013 13:13:12 -0800 Chicago White Sox P Hector Santiago is being viewed by the team as more of a reliever than a starter right now. However, Santiago is ready for either role this year.
Sat, 26 Jan 2013 11:17:18 -0800 Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox SP Hector Santiago has declined an invitation to pitch for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. Santiago has an opportunity to win a spot in Chicago's starting rotation during spring training in place of SP John Danks (shoulder).
