Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago was expected to be bumped to the bullpen or Triple-A Salt Lake when SP C.J. Wilson (ankle) returns Saturday, Aug. 2. However, Santiago will remain in the rotation with SP Tyler Skaggs (forearm) hitting the 15-day disabled list Friday, Aug. 1.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tyler Skaggs (forearm) is likely headed to the 15-day disabled list with a left forearm strain. "The doctor said the UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) is fine," Skaggs said "At the moment, it's not looking bad. I have full range of motion, and the tests went well. We'll see tomorrow, though. It's not feeling too bad right now."
Fantasy Tip: Hector Santiago would take his spot in the rotation. He has depth value in AL-only leagues.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago will start against the Atlanta Braves Sunday, June 15.
Fantasy Tip: There's a good chance Santiago may only make a few starts in place of Tyler Skaggs. The matchup against the Bravos isn't a great one, either.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled SP Hector Santiago from Triple-A Salt Lake Tuesday, June 10.
Fantasy Tip: Santiago will take the rotation spot of Tyler Skaggs (hamstring), who was put on the DL. Santiago was terrible in his rotation post to begin the year and didn't fare much better in the minors. Assuming Skaggs is able to make it back when he's eligible, Santiago may only have a couple starts to convince the Halos he belongs on the active roster.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tyler Skaggs (hamstring) will land on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, and he won't make his start Tuesday, June 10.
Fantasy Tip: Hector Santiago will be called up to make the start in Skaggs' place. Santiago struggled in three starts with Triple-A Salt Lake, so don't expect him to suddenly turn things around now that he's back to starting in the majors. It could be a very short stay for him, too.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago allowed five runs and eight hits in just 2 2/3 innings in his first start with Triple-A Salt Lake Sunday, May 25. He also walked four and struck out just one. "It's a work in progress," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He's not just going to snap back into it."

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker has allowed just three runs in 11 innings in two starts since his recall from Triple-A Salt Lake, and he will continue to fill the rotation spot of the ineffective SP Hector Santiago. Shoemaker's next turn will come Saturday, May 24, against the Kansas City Royals.
Fantasy Tip: Shoemaker has beaten the likes of Cliff Lee and David Price head-to-head. While he has a little more permanence, he still needs to continue to pitch well. If Santiago turns it up at Salt Lake and Shoemaker starts to struggle, his rotation job could be short-lived. Use him only in AL-only fantasy play for now.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim activated OF Kole Calhoun (ankle) from the disabled list Wednesday, May 21, and optioned SP Hector Santiago to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Put Calhoun back in your starting lineups everywhere. The demotion to the minors will allow Santiago to get back on a starting schedule.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago has been relegated to a long-relief role in the bullpen, and he hasn't had many opportunities to pitch since being demoted from the starting rotation. SP Matt Shoemaker has looked good in his two starts, and manager Mike Scioscia acknowledged that there is no current plan to get Santiago back into a starting role.
