San Francisco Giants RP Heath Hembree is in the discussion for a September call-up. He has 14 saves and 23 strikeouts to only five walks in his last 19 outings with Triple-A Fresno.

Fantasy Tip: Hembree won't be in live for any save chances with the Giants, however. He won't be fantasy-relevant.

San Francisco Giants RP Heath Hembree isn't yet an option for a promotion because the organization doesn't want to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for him until there's confidence that he'll remain in a late-inning relief role. It's also possible that the Giants will use Hembree as trade bait prior to the July 31 non-waiver deadline. They may fear that if he's called up and struggles, his value will be damaged.

Fantasy Tip: Kind of a fearful way of doing business, but don't have an extreme need yet. Hembree has a shot to be the club's closer down the road, if enough breaks in his favor.

San Francisco Giants RP Heath Hembree (elbow) had an MRI on his elbow Friday, July 6, which showed a mild flexor strain. He will be shut down for 10 days to two weeks.

San Francisco Giants RP Heath Hembree is working on a slider at Triple-A Fresno, although he has yet to use it during game action. He has worked on it in the bullpen, and catchers are having a hard time catching it, according to teammate RP Shane Loux. The team does not plan on stunting his development by recalling Hembree too quickly, and his promotion will be based on circumstances and need.

The San Francisco Giants reassigned P Heath Hembree to the team's minor league camp Tuesday, March 20, despite a 1.50 ERA with seven strikeouts through six Cactus League innings. He is not on the 40-man roster, so he still might see action in Cactus League games.
