Twins | Trevor May coming up

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 10:44:20 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Trevor May will be recalled from the minors to start the game against the Oakland Athletics Saturday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: May was 8-6 with a 2.93 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 95 1/3 innings (17 starts) with Triple-A Rochester this year. He struggled with consistency the last two years at Class AA, but it seems he's finally putting it together. His fastball has hard sinking action that makes him a nice fit at Target Field. To start, he should be picked up in most AL-only leagues.

Twins | Trevor May developing changeup

Tue, 29 Jan 2013 12:06:49 -0800

Minnesota Twins SP Trevor May, who has a fastball that reaches 95 mph and a 12-6 curveball that has effectively been his out pitch in the minors, is developing a circle changeup. "Having a good curveball is kind of what carried me to where I am, but in rookie ball guys can hit curveballs and 90-plus-mph fastballs," May said. "So throwing changeups to offset throwing hard is huge. Guys who throw hard and throw good changeups are that much better, and a lot of guys don't. It's not something seen by everyone. I feel like having that makes it that much better." May is considered a big part of the team's future, and he could morph into a No. 2 starting pitcher.

Twins | Vance Worley acquired

Thu, 06 Dec 2012 09:20:34 -0800

The Minnesota Twins acquired SP Vance Worley and P Trevor May from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for OF Ben Revere.

Fantasy Tip: Worley fell from grace last season after a breakout rookie season in 2011. He went 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA last year after going 11-3 with a 3.01 ERA in '11. His strikeout rate fell to 7.24 from 8.13. We see a pitcher somewhere in the middle. Worley moves from a bandbox in Philly to a pitcher's park in Minnesota. This bodes well for him, as he had a 5.20 ERA at home, as opposed to a 2.98 ERA on the road last year. Worley should be a pitcher with some upside to target late in your draft to round out your fantasy rotation.
