Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May (back) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, July 5.
Fantasy Tip: May was off to a great start this year and looked like he would take over closing duties when Glen Perkins went down to injury. But that didn't happen and May struggled to a 6.08 ERA and 1.50 WHIP before an injury of his own. He returns with Brandon Kintzler and Fernando Abad sharing closing duties. May might have the best closing stuff in Minnesota's bullpen and remains the most attractive long-term answer to the ninth. Keep him on your radar in deeper leagues if you're searching for saves.

Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May (back) is scheduled to make back-to-back appearances for Class AAA Rochester during his rehab assignment Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2.
Fantasy Tip: It appears as though the 26-year-old right-hander is on the verge of being activated from the disabled list. His high strikeout totals (40 through 26 1/3 innings) make him somewhat useful in deep AL-only fantasy leagues but owners may be scared away due to his high ERA (6.08) and WHIP (1.50).

Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May (back) felt fine during a bullpen session Friday, June 24, and will begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Rochester Sunday, June 26.
Fantasy Tip: May is 0-2 with a 6.08 ERA through 29 appearances this season, with 10 walks and 40 strikeouts in just 26 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander is somewhat useful in AL-only fantasy leagues because of his high strikeout totals, if you're willing to deal with a high ERA and WHIP.

Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May (back) received a cortisone shot recently that took away some of the pain in his back. However, he still wasn't feeling right on the mound.
Fantasy Tip: With Glen Perkins coming off the DL soon and some combination of Brandon Kintzler and Fernando Abad working in the ninth inning now, May has likely lost his window for a chance to become the main closer for the Twins. He was placed on the DL himself Friday. He can still be useful for his strikeout rate in AL-only leagues, but save speculators in mixed formats can likely cut bait for now.

Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes (knee) and RP Trevor May (back) are headed to the 15-day disabled list Friday, June 10, and SP Kyle Gibson (back) will be activated from the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Gibson is an AL-only option for now as he was smoked in his first few starts. Hughes has been awful as well and hasn't been the pitcher he was in 2014. You can cut bait outside of AL-only leagues. May was spectacular to begin the season, but he fell flat afterwards. With Glen Perkins (shoulder) on the mend, May probably missed the boat on the closer opening. He's worth having in AL-only leagues for K's, but that's about it.

Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May (back) has been dealing with a stiff back lately but is feeling better and is expected to be available in relief Wednesday, June 8. Manager Paul Molitor expects to have May as an option after he tests his back prior to the game.
Fantasy Tip: May was off to a dazzling start this year but was touched up often in May and is now sporting a 5.13 ERA and 1.40 WHIP on the season. However, he's been nasty on opposing hitters and is fanning 13.7 per nine innings. He's still a viable option in deeper leagues, and he could be Minnesota's best ninth-inning solution in the long-term.

Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May has been struggling as the setup man, so manager Paul Molitor said he plans to use RPs Brandon Kintzler and Fernando Abad late in games to take some stress off of May.
Fantasy Tip: May was lights out in April and was gaining steam for a shot at saves with Glen Perkins on the DL and Kevin Jepsen shaky in the ninth. However, an absolutely brutal stretch from May 13 up until last night has changed things. May has allowed 10 earned runs and 14 hits in just 3 1/3 innings in that span. Now he'll pitch in less stressful situations. With Perkins nearing a return, it looks like May's window is closing in order to make an impression for long-term closing duties. If you have more pressing needs in deeper leagues, don't be afraid to cut May loose for now.

Minnesota Twins RP Trevor May was informed Wednesday, March 16, that he will be part of the team's bullpen.
Fantasy Tip: May has exhibited some potential in his short major league career that he can be a fine bottom-of-the-rotation starter, but Minnesota apparently has other visions for the 26-year-old. And it might make the most sense, as May possessed a 2.87 ERA in 32 relief appearances last season compared to a 4.43 ERA in 16 starts. That being said, he'll have something to offer owners in deep leagues that count holds as a category, but that's about it. He still may pop up in the rotation at some point later on if there's an injury or two.
