Baltimore Orioles P Dan Klein (shoulder) will start a throwing program in mid-December after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday, Aug. 16. He won't be ready for the start of the 2012 season, but he is expected to pitch at some point next year.

Baltimore Orioles P Dan Klein (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday, Aug. 16. He was diagnosed with a SLAP tear in his right labrum in June. The team will have a timetable on his recovery after the procedure. Klein was 3-1 with a 1.11 ERA with Single-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie in 32 1/3 innings.

Baltimore Orioles SP Dan Klein (shoulder) was diagnosed with a small S.L.A.P. tear in his right labrum, and the plan is for Klein to attempt to rehab the injury rather than have surgery. Klein's rehab is expected to begin next week after a meeting with renowned Dr. Lewis Yocum Monday, June 20.
