Blue Jays | Michael Saunders resting vs. southpaw

Thu, 05 May 2016 13:01:18 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Derek Holland Thursday, May 5. OF Ezequiel Carrera is starting in left field and hitting ninth. Also, OF Kevin Pillar moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Carrera is more of a defensive player and should be ignored in all fantasy formats. Pillar's value takes a significant jump moving up to the leadoff spot in a potent offense. Consider him a sleeper selection in DFS action this evening.

Mon, 02 May 2016 20:19:49 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar went 3-for-4 with a double and run scored Monday, May 2, against the Texas Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Pillar has flourished out of the leadoff spot, so fantasy owners can expect not to see him there again. He has raised his average to .290 and has re-emerged as a must-start in AL-only fantasy leagues and DFS play.

Blue Jays | Kevin Pillar rolling right along

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 21:48:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar homered Saturday, April 30, against the Tampa Bay Rays, his first in 121 at-bats. He has four multi-hit games over his past seven outings. Pillar has flourished since being moved out of the leadoff spot. He is hitting .364 in 12 games since being moved down after hitting just .188 in 12 games at the top of the order.

Fantasy Tip: Pillar has re-emerged as a must-start in AL-only fantasy leagues and some deeper mixed formats now that he is out of the leadoff spot.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders leading off again

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 06:52:58 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders is leading off Monday, April 18, for the second straight day. OF Kevin Pillar is back in the eighth spot.

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 14:13:43 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar had three singles Sunday, April 17, in a 5-3 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Blue Jays | Kevin Pillar expected to bat first

Sat, 19 Mar 2016 06:43:54 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar is expected to be the leadoff hitter for the team this season.

Fantasy Tip: Pillar is coming off a solid 2015 season where he recorded a .278 batting average with 12 home runs and 25 stolen bases. He will be a part of one of the better offenses in baseball and could be a late-round option in mixed leagues no matter where he is in the lineup.

Blue Jays | John Gibbons talks leadoff spot

Fri, 26 Feb 2016 12:15:28 -0800

Toronto Blue Jays OFs Kevin Pillar or Michael Saunders could bat leadoff this season, according to manager John Gibbons.

Fantasy Tip: This is interesting because Saunders has a .301 on-base percentage for his career, and Pillar is only slightly better with a .304 mark. Devon Travis projects to return in May, and he will likely be given an opportunity to set the table for the heart of the order, too. Pillar and Saunders are nothing more than late-round fliers in deep mixed leagues, and given the uncertainty of who will hit first, don't bump either up draft lists based on their potential to lead off.

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 09:09:26 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar and 2B Ryan Goins are not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. OF Dalton Pompey is starting in center field and hitting leadoff, while SS Jonathan Diaz is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson.

Fantasy Tip: Pompey ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is certainly worth a look as a sleeper outfield selection on FantasyScore against a hittable pitcher while hitting leadoff. Diaz is not available to own for your daily lineups today.

Blue Jays | Kevin Pillar earns weekly honors

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 16:39:27 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar was named the American League player of the week for the first time in his career. He hit .524 with four runs scored, five doubles, two home runs, six RBI and five stolen bases in six games. He had an RBI and a stolen bases in four straight games, becoming the first player in Toronto history to do that since Rickey Henderson in 1993.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to ride the hot hand with Pillar ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) on FantasyScore as the regular season comes to a close.
