Angels | C.J. Wilson lands on disabled list

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 14:00:51 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson (elbow) was placed on the disabled list with inflammation in his left elbow Friday, July 31. In a corresponding move, the Angels recalled SP Drew Rucinski from Class AAA Salt Lake.

Fantasy Tip: Check back for an update on whether Rucinski will start. It seems unlikely because he has really struggled with Salt Lake and the Angels. Plus, Jered Weaver ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is returning from a hip injury soon, so he could rejoin the rotation in Wilson's spot. Stay tuned for further updates on the severity of Wilson's injury and how long he projects to be out, too.

Angels | Cory Rasmus could start

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 18:11:30 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Cory Rasmus (abdomen) is an option to move into the rotation in place of the injured SP Jered Weaver (hip), according to manager Mike Scioscia. Rasmus would only be able to throw three or four innings, however, as he makes his way back from injury. Class AAA Salt Lake SPs Andrew Heaney, Drew Rucinski, Alex Sanabia, Nick Tropeano and Adam Wilk are also options.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus should be avoided for fantasy purposes, at least initially, since he'll have an innings cap. Pitching just a few innings would not be attractive for FantasyScore owners.

Angels | Drew Rucinski demoted

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 09:51:06 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Drew Rucinski was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake Tuesday, April 14.

Fantasy Tip: Rucinski ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) didn't fare so well against the Texas Rangers in his spot start Tuesday, allowing nine hits and four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings while walking four and striking out two. His spot in the rotation won't be needed with Garrett Richards' (knee) return on the horizon. Rucinski can now be discarded by any AL-only owners that were holding him.
