Braves | Gordon Beckham, Adonis Garcia out

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 11:02:55 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Gordon Beckham and 3B Adonis Garcia are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood Sunday, July 24. 2B Jace Peterson will at second base, while OF Jeff Francoeur will start in left field and is batting fifth. SS Chase d'Arnaud will start at third base and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur has only two hits in his last 16 at-bats but does have two home runs and eight RBI this month. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better options to use. D'Arnaud has six hits and three RBI in his last four games but probably should only he used in NL-only leagues.

Braves | Two Braves sitting out

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 14:46:36 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar and 2B Jace Peterson are out of the lineup Saturday, July 23, with SS Chase d'Arnaud leading off and OF Jeff Francoeur hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Frenchy is hanging around, in part, because of what he does against left-handed pitchers. He faces lefty Tyler Anderson in Coors Field and looks to be a dynamite low-end flyer. As for d'Arnaud, he hits slightly better against lefties, and he's a solid low-end option as well.

Braves | Gordon Beckham sitting vs. Reds

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 07:44:12 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Gordon Beckham is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. 2B Jace Peterson is starting at the keystone and leading off against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is just 6-for-31 since returning from the disabled list Thursday, July 7, but he does have two home runs. If he can tread water at the dish and remain in the leadoff spot, he'll be a low-end starting option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Peterson had an excellent June (.352/.420/.493 slash line), but has gone just 10-for-42 in July and is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and NL-only settings. He's also nothing more than a low-priced flier in daily contests Wednesday.

Braves | Several Atlanta regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 07:23:22 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Gordon Beckham, SS Erick Aybar and C A.J. Pierzynski are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Jon Gray Sunday, July 17. INF/OF Jace Peterson will bat leadoff and play second base, INF Chase d'Arnaud will bat second and play shortstop, OF Jeff Francoeur will bat fifth and play left field and C Anthony Recker will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur has hit safely in eight of his last nine games and is worth considering as a value play in daily fantasy contests, while Peterson, d'Arnaud and Recker should be viewed strictly as a source of desperation salary cap relief.

Braves | Jeff Francoeur takes a seat

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 12:56:43 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Jeff Francoeur is not in the lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis on Saturday, July 16. 2B/OF Jace Peterson will draw a rare start in left field and bat leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur is on an eight-game hitting streak and has two homers to go along with seven RBI over his last four contests, but he can safely be left on waivers in mixed leagues. Peterson is hitting .282 for the season but doesn't provide enough punch anywhere else to be used outside of NL-only leagues.

Braves | Atlanta resting two players

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 08:52:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson and C A.J. Pierzynski are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Saturday, July 9. 2B Gordon Beckham will start at second base and is batting second, while C Tyler Flowers will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is hitting .303 with one home run and two RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and can be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Flowers is hitting only .214 over the last seven days and should only be used in two-catcher leagues.

Braves | Jace Peterson takes a seat

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:21:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Chris Sale Friday, July 8. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting in left field and batting leadoff, while 2B Gordon Beckham starts at second base and hits second.

Fantasy Tip: Both d'Arnaud and Beckham aren't offensive juggernauts and face a daunting matchup in Sale Friday night. They're both basically depth options in NL-only leagues and should be avoided in DFS play tonight.
