Rangers | Three Texas starters sitting

Sun, 29 May 2016 10:36:39 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, OF Jared Hoying and C Bobby Wilson are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Sunday, May 29. OF Ryan Rua will start in left field and is batting sixth. C Bryan Holaday will start at catcher and is batting eighth, while 2B Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua is hitting .429 with one home run and three RBI against left-handed pitchers and can be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Alberto and Holaday have not done much at the plate this season and probably should be avoided in most leagues.

OF Drew Stubbs will start in right field and is batting first. OF Ryan Rua will start at first base and is batting seventh, while 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at second base and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Stubbs, Rua and Alberto have all posted disappointing numbers over the past seven days and can all be avoided in daily fantasy leagues.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo sitting out

Sat, 21 May 2016 13:45:59 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is out of the lineup Saturday, May 21, with 2B Rougned Odor leading off. OF Ryan Rua is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Odor has a .286-4-7 line this month, and he's a daily consideration at second. Rua is hitting .243 this month, and he doesn't have a ton of offensive upside against Mike Fiers today.

Rangers | Prince Fielder sitting vs. lefty

Mon, 16 May 2016 15:32:48 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Sean Manaea Monday, May 16. 3B Adrian Beltre is the designated hitter. 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at third base and hitting ninth, while OF Ryan Rua moves to first base and is batting sixth. OF Justin Ruggiano draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting seventh. Also, SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: After a bounceback year in 2015, Fielder is hurting his fantasy owners big time with a slash line of .184/.253/.277 with just two home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games. If you have better options at first base, you should seriously consider benching Fielder for an extended period until he shows signs of life. Alberto, Rua and Ruggiano are all low-end options in daily games. Andrus gains notable value for DFS tonight, but has a limited ceiling in terms of what he can offer in terms of power and speed on a given day.

Rangers | Ryan Rua draws start in left

Fri, 13 May 2016 14:41:33 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Ryan Rua is starting in left field and is batting eighth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Friday, May 13.

Fantasy Tip: With Delino DeShields being sent down to the minors Friday, Rua and Drew Stubbs could platoon in left field at least until Shin-Soo Choo returns from the DL. Both outfielders have limited upside, though, with Rua possessing more power and Stubbs useful for his defense and speed. Consider one or the other in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues for depth based on your team needs. Rua is a deep sleeper selection against Dickey in daily leagues but has a limited ceiling hitting low in the lineup.

Rangers | Nomar Mazara, Mitch Moreland resting

Tue, 10 May 2016 13:37:52 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara and 1B Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, May 10. OF Drew Stubbs is in right field and batting ninth, while OF Ryan Rua is starting at first base and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Stubbs' value is based on speed, and he'll have few chances to utilize it hitting ninth. He's a very weak daily pick. Rua hits much better against lefties (.368 in 19 at-bats), so he might be worth a selection as a deep sleeper if you're looking to save some salary cap space.

Rangers | Delino DeShields out again

Thu, 05 May 2016 12:56:58 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is not in the starting lineup again Thursday, May 5. OF Ryan Rua is starting in left field again and is hitting seventh against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields, hitting .239 with three stolen bases, continues to see his role diminish as he struggles at the plate. He had recently been banished to the bottom of the order, too, where his stolen base prowess won't blossom. Rua has a very limited ceiling and is strictly a deep sleeper in daily setups if you're looking to save some cash.

Rangers | Delino DeShields takes a seat

Wed, 04 May 2016 14:31:11 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 4. OF Ryan Rua draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting eighth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Aaron Sanchez.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields' fantasy allure is dropping quickly, as he's hitting just .239/.316/.307 with one home run and three stolen bases in 88 at-bats. He's also been relegated to the bottom of the order lately, which limits his fantasy upside. DeShields' is mainly an asset for his speed, but hitting low in the order hurts his ability to do so. Rua is a low-end outfield option in daily games tonight.

Rangers | Delino DeShields sitting vs. Angels

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 13:36:23 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is not in the starting lineup Friday, April 29. OF Ryan Rua draws into the lineup and is batting eighth, and 2B Rougned Odor is leading off against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Friday.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields owns a .219/.305/.301 slash line to start the season, and he has been hitting ninth more than first of late. His fantasy value is dwindling. Odor receives a modest fantasy boost in the run and stolen base columns setting the table for the Rangers, but it hurts his RBI potential. Rua is a potential flier in daily contests because of his .292/.320/.458 career slash line against southpaws, but you'll still want to keep expectations in check.

Rangers | Price Fielder, Mitch Moreland out

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:27:55 -0700

Texas Rangers 1Bs Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Wednesday, April 27. OF Ryan Rua is the designated hitter and is batting fifth, while 2B Hanser Alberto is at first base and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua hits much better in his short career against left-handers (.287 with three of his six homers), so he could be a deep sleeper worth pursuing in daily formats. Alberto has just two hits in 14 at-bats (.143) and hit .222 in 99 at-bats in 2015. He's one to avoid.
