|Cubs | Chicago's rotation competition|
Wed, 10 Feb 2016 12:45:01 -0800
Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel, who battled through a calf injury and posted a 5.10 ERA in the second half, isn't a lock for the starting rotation after the additions of SPs John Lackey and Adam Warren. Hammel also had a 14.55 ERA in two playoff starts. The Cubs are also paying Hammel $9 million in 2016, and he did have a 2.86 first-half ERA. SP Kyle Hendricks may be fighting for a job as the No. 5 starter. "Those things will work out," general manager Jed Hoyer said. "We have a lot of guys that can start in the big leagues and I'm sure a lot of those guys will make starts for the Cubs next year." SPs Trevor Cahill, Travis Wood and Clayton Richard are also vying for rotation jobs this spring, but none are likely to beat out both Hendricks and Warren.
Fantasy Tip: Lackey and Hammel should have rotation spots locked up, with Warren on the outside looking in. Lackey is a vet that will see correction to his ERA, but he remains a viable late-round option to round out your staff. Hammel and Kendricks are speculative grabs in deep mixed affairs.

|Cubs | Kyle Hendricks to start NLCS Game 3|
Sun, 18 Oct 2015 15:30:35 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hendricks ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) will face Mets SP Jacob deGrom. Hendricks allowed three runs on four hits and struck out seven. He may have a short leash, according to sources, as Cubs manager Joe Maddon may turn to the bullpen early. Considering Hendricks faces deGrom it may be a risky matchup.

|Cardinals | Two players hot against Kyle Hendricks|
Sat, 10 Oct 2015 00:59:12 -0700
St. Louis Cardinals 3B Matt Carpenter and OF Matt Holliday have solid records against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks. Carpenter is 6-for-10 with a homer and three RBIs and Holliday is 6 for 12 with two homers and four RBIs.
Fantasy Tip: Carpenter ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) and Holliday ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) are sweet targets for your FantasyScore lineup under these circumstances. Past history suggests one or both players could sizzle in Game 2 of the NLDS.

|Cubs | Kyle Hendricks starting Game 2|
Thu, 08 Oct 2015 17:04:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hendricks ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) struggled in his only outing against the Cards this year, giving up four runs on six hits over five innings in a no-decision May 5. However, he struck out 17 batters over 12 scoreless innings in his two most recent starts, making him worthy of consideration for FantasyScore lineups Saturday.

|Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy out for series finale|
Wed, 23 Sep 2015 13:44:13 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy (concussion) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23. C Martin Maldonado is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: Lucroy ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is expected to return at some point this season, but he won't catch again this season. FantasyScore players should view him as an extremely risky start until he proves his health in a few games. Maldonado ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) continues to disappoint with a .583 OPS in September, and he is a low-end fantasy option in all formats, including daily contests.

|Cubs | Kyle Hendricks looks to pass Bucs|
Wed, 16 Sep 2015 22:50:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hendricks ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore for the series finale, as he faces an unfavorable matchup against a team he hasn't fared well against.

|Cubs | Kyle Hendericks suffering from road woes |
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 15:43:53 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Home or away, Hendricks ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has been struggling of late and owns a 5.97 ERA over his past six starts. He is an incredibly risky start in all fantasy formats Wednesday, including FantasyScore. What is encouraging, though, is Hendricks has 34 strikeouts over 31 2/3 innings during his recent slump, and he owns a 3.45 FIP suggesting he is pitching better than his results.

|Cubs | Jon Lester starting Friday|
Tue, 04 Aug 2015 17:03:11 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester will make his next start against the San Francisco Giants at home Friday, Aug. 7, after having his start rained out Monday, Aug. 3. SP Dan Haren is going against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his debut with the team Wednesday, Aug. 5, and SP Jason Hammel will go against the Giants Thursday, Aug. 6. SP Kyle Hendricks will be pushed back a day to Saturday, Aug. 8, while SP Jake Arrieta will pitch on normal rest Sunday, Aug. 9. Lester threw only 31 pitches Monday night.
Fantasy Tip: The fact that Lester ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) threw some before the game was canceled Monday shouldn't make you hesitant to use him Friday on FantasyScore. However, the Gigantes have the third-best OPS in the league (.766) on the road this year, meaning you may want to save Lester for another day.

|Cubs | Kyle Hendericks draws Game 1 Wednesday|
Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:52:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hendricks ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has been stingy over his last four outings and owns a 0.35 ERA with 21 strikeouts over 26 innings during the span. He'll be worth considering as a No. 2 starting pitcher option for FantasyScore players Wednesday.

|Cubs | Kyle Hendricks on scoreless innings streak|
Thu, 16 Jul 2015 15:53:02 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks will be starting Friday, July 17, against the Atlanta Braves while carrying a scoreless streak of 22 1/3 innings pitched, having not allowed a run over his past three outings.
Fantasy Tip: Although he doesn't get nearly the same amount of attention as some of the other hurlers on the Cubs pitching staff, there's no denying that Hendricks ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has developed into a safe, reliable option for all fantasy leagues. Hendricks draws a favorable matchup in his first assignment following the All-Star break, taking on a Braves lineup that has been scuffling since Freddie Freeman went down with an injury.
