Cubs | Kyle Hendricks' scoreless inning streak snapped

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 22:38:31 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks allowed three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, July 26. He surrendered a run in the first, ending his string of consecutive scoreless innings at 19 1/3. Hendricks walked two and struck out seven in the loss.

Fantasy Tip: Not only was Hendricks' scoreless steak stopped at 19 1/3, his win streak ended at five as he lost for the first time since June 13. That being said, Hendricks still struck out seven and is one of the better fantasy pitchers out there. Make sure he's in your lineup next time he takes the bump.

Cubs | Kyle Hendricks has impressive outing

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 18:12:54 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks (9-6) allowed seven hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a victory over the New York Mets Wednesday, July 20. He walked one batter and struck out seven.

Fantasy Tip: Hendricks has allowed just one unearned run through 19 2/3 innings during the month of July, with five walks and 13 strikeouts. His next scheduled start will come against the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, July 26, and he makes a viable pitching option in all formats.

Cubs | Kyle Hendricks in cruise control at Wrigley

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 07:31:06 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks owns a 1.50 ERA through 10 appearances at Wrigley Field this season, which is the second-lowest home ERA in the league. Hendricks is starting against the New York Mets Wednesday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: Aside from legging a touch behind in the strikeout department (7.7 K/9), Hendricks has been a true breakout contributor for fantasy owners this season with eight wins, a 2.41 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. And it isn't like 89 strikeouts through 104 2/3 innings is anything to shake a stick at. Unless things change drastically, Hendricks is on his way to finishing as a No. 2 fantasy starter. He's worth a look in daily contests against the Mets Wednesday, too.

Cubs | Kyle Hendricks has solid outing

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 16:44:51 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks pitched six scoreless innings against the Texas Rangers Friday, July 15, to pick up his eighth win of the season. He allowed three hits during the game, while striking out three batters and walking two.

Fantasy Tip: Hendricks has allowed only three runs in his last six appearances and currently has a 2.41 ERA. He is scheduled to face the New York Mets in his next start and should be a fine starting option in some mixed leagues.

Cubs | Kyle Hendricks ups record to 6-6

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 16:26:52 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks evened up his record at 6-6 after picking up a win Wednesday, June 29, over the Cincinnati Reds. The second-year right-hander worked 6 2/3 innings, yielding a pair of runs on eight hits and two walks, including a homer. He also struck out five.

Fantasy Tip: Not the sharpest of outings from Hendricks, but he can be excused for it based on the end result and how well he's pitched as of late overall. In fact, that's now seven starts in his past eight tries in which the 26-year-old has allowed two runs or less. Hendricks continues to prove his usefulness across all formats, and that shall remain the case as long as he's pitching for arguably the best team in baseball.

Pirates | Jacob Stallings called up, starting

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 16:53:45 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates C Jacob Stallings was called up from Class AAA Indianapolis and will bat eighth against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks Sunday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Stallings is nothing more than a shot-in-the-dark source of cap relief in DFS games in his debut.

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 16:47:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (eye) will bat cleanup against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks Sunday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: With Marte back in the middle of Pittsburgh's lineup, he should be starting in all formats.

Cubs | Kyle Hendricks overmatched in loss

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 19:54:00 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks allowed four runs and six hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss Monday, June 13, against the Washington Nationals. It was the first time in six start he allowed more than five hits.

Fantasy Tip: Hendricks had one poor outing, and he was outshined by Max Scherzer who had it on cruise control. Hendricks remains a must-start fantasy option across all formats for the team with the league's best record.

Phillies | Cameron Rupp out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 13:05:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp is out of the lineup Tuesday, June 7, replaced by C Carlos Ruiz. Ruiz will bat eighth against Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks.

Fantasy Tip: This is the other half of the platoon with Rupp and Ruiz, but it is the lighter half of the platoon. Ruiz does not play enough to merit starting in all formats, and his bat is not worth consideration in DFS lineups.

Phillies | Jimmy Paredes not starting Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 12:59:50 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jimmy Paredes is not starting Tuesday, June 7, against the Chicago Cubs. OF Tyler Goeddel is in the lineup and hitting sixth against Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks.

Fantasy Tip: Although Paredes is 4-for-13 since joining Philadelphia, the team is trying him out with Goeddel in a platoon situation. Paredes is getting a simple night off. With Goeddel hitting .176 in the last week, this job may be Paredes' to lose in the future. Goeddel carries little fantasy value, and Peter Bourjos could also lose at-bats as well.
