Nationals | Joe Ross brilliant Saturday

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 16:13:13 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross allowed a run on six hits in six innings Saturday, April 30, to beat the St. Louis Cardinals. He has allowed two runs in 22 2/3 innings for a 0.79 ERA on the season.

Fantasy Tip: His blister wasn't an issue today, and while he only has 14 strikeouts on the year, he's becoming a must-have.

Nationals | Joe Ross feeling good

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 16:41:09 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross (finger) said the blister on his throwing hand has mended well enough that he could have started Tuesday, April 26. "It's feeling good. I think I could throw today," he said. "They decided to skip me and give me some more rest. I don't think they want me to re-aggravate my finger or anything like that."

Fantasy Tip: It's understandable the Nationals are opting to be careful, as the 22-year-old Ross is only in his first full major league season. He's out to a very nice start, being 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in two starts and one relief appearance. Perhaps most impressive is that the brother of Tyson Ross has been able to pitch seven innings or deeper in both of his assignments. Luckily it looks like he'll be fine for his next outing.

Nationals | Joe Ross to miss next start

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 09:21:01 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross (finger) will miss his next scheduled start with a blister on his right middle finger Tuesday, April 26.

Fantasy Tip: Ross did have a pinch-hit single in the extra-inning affair Sunday, so that's a good sign he'll be back after he misses his start on Tuesday. Ross is sporting a 0.54 ERA and 0.84 WHIP with 10 K's in 16 2/3 innings in his first three starts, so he should remain owned everywhere.

Nationals | Joe Ross' next start up in air

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 10:39:17 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross (finger) may not be able to make his next scheduled start after he left after only two innings with a blister on his right middle finger Wednesday, April 20. Ross' next turn could be skipped altogether, and the Nats could bring him back to face the St. Louis Cardinals April 30 since they have an off day Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: It's an unfortunate setback for Ross, who has allowed just one earned run while striking out 10 in his first three starts. The sleeper candidate hasn't disappointed so far, but you may want to consider benching him his next time out to make sure his blister is a non-factor.

Nationals | Joe Ross shuts down Philadelphia

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 20:42:04 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five over 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a win over the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ross has impressed in his first two starts, and if he is sitting on waivers in your league, scoop him up immediately.

Nationals | Joe Ross dazzles Marlins

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 14:58:03 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross kept the Miami Marlins in check on Sunday, April 10, yielding five hits and fanning five over seven frames in his season debut.

Fantasy Tip: Weather pushed back Ross' first start of the season back a day, but it hardly mattered during his 97-pitch outing. The 22-year-old will be a recommended fantasy play in his next scheduled start as well - the opener of a three-game road set against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

Nationals | Joe Ross, Max Scherzer pushed back

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 09:43:33 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross is now scheduled to start against the Miami Marlins Sunday, April 10, because the team's game Saturday, April 9, was postponed. SP Max Scherzer is now scheduled to start against the Atlanta Braves Monday, April 11.

Fantasy Tip: Ross pitched well when given the chance last season and could be a decent starting candidate for owners in deeper mixed leagues. Scherzer is one of the top starters in the league and is a must-start option in all leagues.

MLB | Miami-Washington postponed

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 09:33:08 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross was scheduled to face Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Saturday, April 9, but the game has been postponed because of inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled for May 14 as part of a split doubleheader.

Fantasy Tip: Owners in daily leagues and other leagues should take their Marlins and Nationals players out of their lineups.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg to start second game

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 09:50:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg will start the second game of the season against the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, April 6, according to manager Dusty Baker. SPs Gio Gonzalez and Joe Ross will be available out of the bullpen for that game.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg had previously been scheduled to start the home opener versus the Miami Marlins Friday, April 8, and no reason was given for the switch. Strasburg should be viewed as a low-end SP1, with health concerns being the primary reason keeping him from being rated higher.
