Cardinals | Kolten Wong collects three hits

Wed, 20 May 2015 20:11:47 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong went 3-for-5 with two RBI against the New York Mets Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in six of his last seven games and has five RBI in his last four games. Wong is one of the better options at second base and could be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong back at leadoff

Wed, 20 May 2015 13:39:51 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is back in the leadoff spot against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) hasn't hit well in the limited at-bats he's had in the leadoff spot this year, but that shouldn't discourage you from clicking on him at FantasyScore. He's hitting .304 (31-for-102) with four of his five home runs off right-handed pitchers, and although Colon is having a fine season so far, he shouldn't scare you away from Wong.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong setting the table

Mon, 18 May 2015 12:30:10 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is batting leadoff against the New York Mets Monday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: The bump to the leadoff spot is a plus for Wong's ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) runs and stolen bases upside, but it will lead to fewer RBI opportunities. FantasyScore players will take the trade off, especially with him sporting a 1.076 OPS with nine runs, four home runs and 11 RBI over his past 14 games. Daily players will want to note the potentially daunting matchup against Matt Harvey Monday, though.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong leading off

Tue, 12 May 2015 11:34:22 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is hitting leadoff against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Tuesday, May 12.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has performed much better near the top of the lineup this season, although he has yet to hit leadoff. It boosts his FantasyScore value and makes him very attractive against Carrasco tonight.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong dialed in at the plate

Fri, 08 May 2015 21:09:38 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong went 3-for-5 with a home run, a run scored and three RBIs in an 8-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, May 8, and he has 13 hits in his last 26 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has raised his average from .272 to .340 over his past six games, and he is one of the best options at second base at FantasyScore right now.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong back in two-hole

Fri, 08 May 2015 14:09:34 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is hitting second in the batting order against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Friday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: This is directly related to Matt Carpenter being out of the lineup for the second straight day. Expect Wong ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) to drop back down in the lineup when Carpenter returns. Wong hit surprisingly well against lefties in 2014, going 23-for-73 (.315) against them, so he shouldn't entirely be ruled out tonight at FantasyScore against Liriano. However, it could be tough for him to return value.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong at top of lineup

Thu, 07 May 2015 09:48:32 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is hitting second in the batting order against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta Thursday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) gains considerable FantasyScore value today from the move up in the batting order. The lefty second baseman has upped his average to .330 (31-for-94) recently and has an .869 OPS against right-handers in 2015. Consider him a fine play in daily games.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong out against southpaw

Wed, 06 May 2015 15:21:00 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, May 6. SS Pete Kozma is starting at the keystone and batting ninth Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Wong ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. He is off to an excellent start, though, with 14 runs, two home runs, 11 RBI, two stolen bases and a .323/.363/.462 slash line. Kozma's ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) glove is more of an asset than his bat, so against a tough opposing pitcher (Jon Lester), Kozma is best avoided in daily contests Wednesday.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong sitting out

Sun, 03 May 2015 11:05:36 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 3. SS Pete Kozma will be the starting second baseman for the Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should play in the next game. Kozma ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has gone 3-for-9 in his limited playing time this season, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.

Fantasy Tip: Wong ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and will be back in the starting lineup Sunday, April 19. Pete Kozma ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) will be starting at second base Saturday but is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.
