Rockies | Tyler Anderson good in no-decision

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 18:13:45 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson was good in his start Thursday, July 28, but picked up a no-decision opposite the New York Mets. The southpaw went six innings, allowing only one run on seven hits. He also struck out five and walked none.

Fantasy Tip: Although he pitches for Colorado, owners might want to consider picking up Anderson already if he's still out there, as the former first-round draft selection has been very solid since making his major league debut in the first half of June. He's allowed three runs or fewer in all but one of his nine starts, and owns a relatively terrific 3.33 ERA.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has shown some promise through six starts, posting a 3.03 ERA and striking out 32 in 35 2/3 innings. He is worth a flier in NL-only formats.

Phillies | Carlos Ruiz behind the plate

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:22:00 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz will start at catcher and bat sixth against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Saturday, July 9.

Fantasy Tip: Ruiz has struggled at the plate all year, and he doesn't warrant the attention of fantasy owners.

Phillies | Tyler Goeddel in the lineup

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:18:33 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is out of the lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Saturday, July 9. OF Tyler Goeddel will replace Asche in left field and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Goeddel is batting .221 this year and can be ignored by fantasy owners.

Phillies | Ryan Howard out against lefty

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:11:40 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is out of the lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson. 1B Tommy Joseph will replace Howard and bat fourth.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph has three homers and a .308 average in 39 at-bats against lefties. He could be worth a look in DFS games.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera out with foot issue

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:08:13 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Batting atop the lineup, Bourjos could be worth a flier in DFS formats. He is hitting .333 against lefties this season.

Rockies | Tyler Anderson continues solid work

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 17:41:52 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson dropped to 0-2 after losing in his outing Wednesday, June 29, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He didn't pitch badly, though, going six innings and holding the opposition to three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks, including a home run. He also struck out six.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the loss, Anderson was able to pick up his second quality start in four tries. Furthermore, he's now pitched into the sixth inning or deeper in all of his assignments, while allowing two earned runs or less in each as well. It's risky tailing any pitcher in fantasy that resides in Colorado, but Anderson at least merits consideration with how he's pitched thus far. He should at least be an option based on certain matchups.

Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson allowed one run on six hits while striking out six over 6 1/3 innings in his major league debut in a no-decision against the San Diego Padres Sunday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: If Anderson earns another turn in the rotation, he could be a cheap alternative in DFS formats.

Rockies | Tyler Anderson to start Sunday

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 07:19:41 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson will make his MLB debut versus the San Diego Padres Sunday, June 12, in place of SP Eddie Butler.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is a 26-year-old left-hander who went 2-2 with a 2.35 ERA over six starts for three different minor-league affiliates this year, with 13 walks and 30 strikeouts over 30 2/3 innings. He should be viewed as nothing more than an inexpensive flier option in DFS.

Rockies | Jake McGee placed on DL

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 12:31:35 -0700

Colorado Rockies RP Jake McGee (knee) was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, June 11, with left knee inflammation. RP Tyler Anderson was activated off the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: McGee was tagged for four runs in two-thirds on an inning en route to suffering his third blown save, then underwent an MRI on Saturday, and the exam yielded less-than-favorable results. Manager Walt Weiss has yet to announce who will close in McGee's absence, but Jason Motte and Carlos Estevez are the two most likely candidates. Motte has closing experience, but Estevez has pitched the eighth inning more often for the Rockies and probably should be considered the slight favorite to pick up saves in the short term. He's worth a speculative short-term add in most leagues.
