Angels | Albert Pujols remains out Friday

Fri, 01 May 2015 15:46:01 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup again Friday, May 1. DH C.J. Cron is starting at first base and hitting sixth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is day-to-day and is hoping to return to the lineup sometime this weekend. His absence continues the shakeup at the top of the lineup. Erick Aybar ($3,100, 6.2% of cap), Johnny Giavotella ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) continue to gain daily value while hitting at the top of the lineup, and Kole Calhoun ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is also more appealing hitting in the cleanup spot.

Angels | Albert Pujols sitting out Thursday

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 10:55:20 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 30. DH C.J. Cron is starting at first base and hitting sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols' ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) doesn't seem to be too serious, but it may be at least a few more days before he's able to get back into the lineup. Pujols has been slow out of the gates this year, but a low BABIP has been the main culprit. He has time to bounce back, but you'll want to avoid him at FantasyScore for at least a while.

Angels | C.J. Cron sitting out vs. Oakland

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 14:35:04 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim DH C.J. Cron is not in the starting lineup against the Oakland Athletics Wednesday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Cron ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has been struggling mightily to start the season, but he had a two-hit, two-run showing Tuesday, April 21. Make sure to avoid him in all fantasy formats Wednesday. It is likely best to wait for him to string together a few solid games at the plate before utilizing him in FantasyScore contests, too.

Angels | Matt Joyce, C.J. Cron struggling

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 09:01:33 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Matt Joyce and DH C.J. Cron are hitting .167 and .129, respectively, to begin the 2015 season in the absence of OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder). The two have combined for one home run and seven RBI.

Fantasy Tip: It'd be wise to avoid Joyce ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Cron ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) at FantasyScore for the time being. Joyce should only be started in daily lineups when he's facing a right-handed pitcher.

Angels | Matt Joyce has sore foot

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 15:07:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Matt Joyce (foot) is serving as the designated hitter Friday, April 17, after fouling a ball off his foot Wednesday, April 15. DH C.J. Cron is on the bench Friday as a result.

Fantasy Tip: Joyce's ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) foot shouldn't keep you from considering him at FantasyScore tonight in a juicy matchup as the cleanup hitter against Houston Astros starter Roberto Hernandez.

Angels | Matt Joyce hitting cleanup

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 14:08:18 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Matt Joyce is serving as the designated hitter and is in the cleanup spot against Houston Astros SP Roberto Hernandez Friday, April 17, with DH C.J. Cron once again on the bench. OF Efren Navarro is starting in left field and hitting eighth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Joyce ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) becomes much more attractive hitting in the heart of the Halos lineup against a weak starter in Hernandez. It doesn't hurt to consider the veteran lefty swinger as a sleeper pick at FantasyScore in the outfield.

Angels | C.J. Cron to see everyday duty

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 13:55:47 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim DH C.J. Cron will likely be in the lineup on an everyday basis, according to manager Mike Scioscia. "The plan is to get C.J. in for a lot of at-bats," Scioscia said. "No doubt in the spring he was swinging the bat better than he was last year. I want to give him a chance to see if he can come out and contribute."

Fantasy Tip: Cron ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could see time at first base to relieve Albert Pujols, or he could DH as long as Josh Hamilton is out. Cron had a hot-hitting spring and is a decent play at this low price.

Angels | C.J. Cron swats two doubles

Wed, 01 Apr 2015 13:05:02 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim DH C.J. Cron hit two doubles Wednesday, April 1, and finished spring training with a .416 batting average.

Fantasy Tip: Cron ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) burst onto the scene last season with eight bombs, 27 RBI and a .297/.323/.510 slash line through 155 at-bats before the All-Star break. He projects to hit in the middle the Angels lineup, and most importantly, behind Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. Cron is an upside late-round pick in seasonal league and potential steal at his current FantasyScore price in the early season.

Angels | C.J. Cron hitting well this spring

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 14:11:32 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF C.J. Cron, who is expected to see plenty of at-bats in 2015 as the designated hitter, went 2-for-3 with a double and a sacrifice fly to extend his spring hitting streak to seven games. Cron is hitting .396 (19-for-48) in Cactus League play.

Fantasy Tip: Cron should see plenty of at-bats as the DH or in left field with Josh Hamilton's (shoulder) situation up in the air. Cron isn't a household name, but he brings some intriguing power to the plate, and he is worth considering late in deep mixed leagues.

Angels | C.J. Cron enters camp healthy

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 14:23:52 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron (wrist) is healthy entering spring training, after he underwent minor wrist surgery this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Cron will need to earn his playing time, but he is expected to see an extended opportunity to do so with Josh Hamilton (shoulder) unlikely for opening day. In mixed leagues, Cron is a late-round flier with power upside. He flashed potential last season slugging .548 and .552 in May and June, respectively.
