Angels | C.J. Cron out again

Wed, 04 May 2016 07:55:53 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 4, with 1B Albert Pujols hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: AP has played first base in all three games in Milwaukee, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Pujols has played eight games at first, which means he only needs two more to keep 1B eligibility next year in a lot of formats. His .204-6-17 line is rather average, but he's hitting .304 the last seven days, and he's an upper-middle option against Zach Davies.

Angels | C.J. Cron out again Tuesday

Tue, 03 May 2016 14:47:50 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Tuesday, May 3, in a National League park.

Fantasy Tip: Cron has been slow out of the gates in the first month, hitting .240 (18-for-75) with one home run and seven RBI, and he should really only be owned in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Expect him to return to the lineup when the Halos return to an AL park.

Angels | C.J. Cron sitting vs. Brewers

Mon, 02 May 2016 12:42:40 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is not in the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers Monday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: With the Angels visiting Milwaukee, Cron draws out of the lineup without the ability to utilize him or Albert Pujols as the designated hitter. Cron is off to a rough start, too. He has just six runs, a home run, six RBI and an underwhelming .230/.313/.311 slash line through 83 plate appearances. At this stage, Cron is a fringe own outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only formats.

Angels | C.J. Cron, Johnny Giavotella sitting

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:58:25 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron and 2B Johnny Giavotella are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. 1B Ji-Man Choi is serving as the designated hitter and is batting ninth, while SS Cliff Pennington is at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Kansas City Royals SP Chris R. Young.

Fantasy Tip: Giavotella and Pennington are likely locked into a platoon and should only be rostered in the deepest AL-only leagues, with Pennington being the more attractive one. Choi, a switch-hitter, has only one hit in nine at-bats off the bench this year and is a very weak daily target tonight.

Angels | Mike Trout serving as DH

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 14:51:16 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout (foot) is serving as the designated hitter for the first time this year Monday, April 25, after fouling a ball off his foot over the weekend. OF Rafael Ortega is in center field and is batting second, while 1B Ji-Man Choi is in left field and is hitting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Ian Kennedy. 1B C.J. Cron also takes a seat with 1B Albert Pujols at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Start Trout as you normally would in all fantasy formats. His foot isn't a problem after he started Sunday. Ortega and Choi haven't done much with the bats in Anaheim and are weak daily plays against Kennedy, who is out to a fine start with KC.

Angels | Two Halos sitting out

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:36:06 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Johnny Giavotella and 1B C.J. Cron are out Saturday, April 23, with 2B Cliff Pennington hitting seventh and 1B Ji-Man Choi hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Pennington nor Choi make good DFS plays tonight against Felix Hernandez.

Angels | C.J. Cron responds to demotion

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 23:27:58 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron was dropped to the eighth spot of the batting order Monday, April 18, against the Chicago White Sox. He responded by going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, his first two of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Cron responded favorably to being dropped in the batting order, but he is still hitting just .159 on the season. Give him a few more games to turn it around before trusting him in AL-only fantasy leagues again.

Angels | C.J. Cron dropped in order

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 14:22:59 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron has been dropped to eighth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Monday, April 18.

Fantasy Tip: Cron easily has 20-homer power over a full season but is off to a rough start (4-for-40, .100 average with seven K's). Because of his slow start he's likely to be on many waiver wires in mixed formats. Avoid him for now and in daily contests, but if he heats up, you should consider adding him if you need help with power.

Angels | C.J. Cron slumping

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 15:49:12 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is hitting just .103 heading into the game Friday, April 15. Manager Mike Scioscia considered dropping Cron in the batting order but then decided against it since it's so early in the season.

Fantasy Tip: Cron should be able to approach 20 home runs over a full season worth of at-bats, but he's off to a terrible start with just three hits in 29 at-bats. He might only be worth rostering in AL-only formats for now, but keep him in mind for his power skills if he starts to heat up in deep mixed leagues.

Angels | C.J. Cron on the bench

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 16:02:54 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 12. 1B Ji-Man Choi is starting at first base and hitting against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Cron is off to a disappointing start (2-for-26, .077), so you should certainly consider benching him in all formats. Choi won't offer much to fantasy owners and is a weak play in daily formats.
