Mets | Michael Conforto back up

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 15:48:00 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto was recalled from Class AAA Las Vegas before the team's game Sunday, July 17. OF Brandon Nimmo was sent to Las Vegas in a corresponding roster move.

Fantasy Tip: Between June 25 and now, Conforto hit 344 with nine extra-base hits and 15 RBIs in the minor leagues. Has he found his stroke? Only Conforto knows that. Still, you should give Conforto a shot in DFS and regular leagues based on his past performance. Keep Nimmo close by on your roster, however, just in case Conforto is ineffective or ends up hurt.

Mets | Brandon Nimmo, Travis d'Arnaud out

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 09:38:12 -0700

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Zach Eflin Sunday, July 17. OF Yoenis Cespedes will start at left field, while OF Juan Lagares will start at center field and is batting seventh. C Rene Rivera will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares is hitting .200 with one home run and one RBI this month and is not a strong option in most fantasy leagues. Rivera has only two hits in his last 11 at-bats and should only be used in two-catcher leagues.

Mets | Three Mets idle Wednesday

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 07:42:11 -0700

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo, 1B James Loney and C Travis d'Arnaud are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with 2B Wilmer Flores hitting fifth, OF Juan Lagares hitting seventh and C Rene Rivera hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flores has a .292-2-5 line the last week, and he's worth low-end consideration against lefty Justin Nicolino. Lagares is hitting .280, but he doesn't present enough upside for more than a basement play. Rivera isn't worth DFS consideration.

Mets | Neil Walker, Brandon Nimmo out

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:56:32 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker and OF Brandon Nimmo are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Wei-Yin Chen Tuesday, July 5. SS Wilmer Flores is starting at the keystone and is hitting cleanup, while OF Juan Lagares is in center field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely just a night off for Walker and Nimmo against the lefty. Flores notched six hits and two homers Sunday and is hot right now, so he's a value pick in DFS in the middle of the order. However, with Jose Reyes now playing regularly at third base, Flores' value in traditional leagues takes a big hit. Lagares is known more for his defense and has little fantasy value otherwise.

Mets | Brandon Nimmo on the bench

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 09:11:25 -0700

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Sunday, July 3. OF Yoenis Cespedes will start in left field, while OF Juan Lagares will start in center field and is batting first.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares was activated from the disabled list recently and should receive playing time against left-handed pitchers. He has a decent .286 average but only two home runs and six RBI on the season. Owners in most leagues should be able to find a better option.

Mets | Brandon Nimmo hits first HR

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 05:21:11 -0700

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-5 with three RBI and his first career home run against the Chicago Cubs Friday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Nimmo has recorded at least one hit in each of his last five games and should continue to receive playing time. He should be used in all NL-only leagues and probably has value in some deeper mixed leagues.

Mets | Curtis Granderson remains sidelined

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:52:23 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, June 30. OF Brandon Nimmo is starting in right field and is hitting leadoff, while 2B/OF Kelly Johnson starts in left and is batting sixth against Chicago Cubs SP John Lackey.

Fantasy Tip: Nimmo has plenty of upside and should be considered in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues with regular playing time in New York's outfield. He doesn't have a ton of fantasy upside in DFS hitting leadoff, though. Johnson is a journeyman utility player that has limited offensive upside at this point of his career. He's a deep DFS sleeper tonight.

Mets | Curtis Granderson scratched late

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 15:16:57 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) was a late scratch against the Washington Nationals Wednesday, June 29. Mets OF Brandon Nimmo draws into the lineup and will bat eighth, and Mets OF Alejandro De Aza will lead off against Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Sub out Granderson where you can Wednesday, and it's likely best to avoid both De Aza and Nimmo given the daunting matchup against Scherzer. The calf injury has hindered Granderson of late, so check back for updates on his status before locking him into your lineups, especially in daily contests.

Mets | Alejandro De Aza draws in vs. Nats

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 14:14:26 -0700

New York Mets OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in left field and batting seventh against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday, June 29. OF Brandon Nimmo is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: This is likely a move to provide the rookie Nimmo a break from facing Scherzer. View De Aza as a desperation fantasy option Wednesday, whereas Nimmo remains a viable depth piece in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues with the fantasy upside to gain traction in shallower setups.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:43:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera, OF Curtis Granderson and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Sunday, June 26. INF/OF Kelly Johnson will bat leadoff and play left field, INF Matthew Reynolds will play shortstop and bat second, OF Brandon Nimmo will play right field and bat seventh and C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is 7-for-20 with a home run and six RBI during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy lineups. Nimmo will be making his MLB debut and possesses plenty of upside, so he could be worth taking a flier on in DFS as well. Johnson and Rivera are a combined 1-for-11 versus Norris and should be avoided Sunday.
