Brewers | Taylor Jungmann sent down

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 11:31:59 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann was optioned to the minors Friday, April 29. In a corresponding move, RP David Goforth was called up.

Fantasy Tip: Jungmann struggled mightily in five starts, going 0-4 with a 9.15 ERA while walking 13 and striking out 13 in 20 2/3 innings. He must improve his control before he'll be fantasy relevant and receive another shot at the rotation. Goforth isn't a starter, so stay tuned for who Milwaukee will use to fill the rotation next week.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann hit hard again

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 15:58:48 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his start Thursday, April 28, opposite the Chicago Cubs. He gave up five runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out just two. With the loss, he dropped to 0-4 on the season.

Fantasy Tip: It has not been a pleasant sophomore campaign for Jungmann through the first month. In five starts, he pitched past the fifth inning just once, while surrendering four runs or more in three of them. If this continues, he could be demoted, but luckily for him, the Brewers don't exactly have much starting pitching depth to replace him. As a result, Jungmann will more likely have to work through his struggles at the major league level, which could result in more growing pains. He's simply not someone to start right now outside of deep NL-only leagues.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann to work Thursday

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 19:12:41 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann will start the game Thursday, April 28, against the Chicago Cubs after his outing Wednesday, April 27, was postponed due to rain.

Fantasy Tip: Jungmann will still have to face the red-hot Jake Arrieta. The Brewers are 1-8 in Jungmann's past nine outings, and 0-9 in his past nine starts on the road. Avoid Jungmann in DFS and all fantasy formats with a terrible matchup.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann issues six walks

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 15:32:24 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann allowed three runs on four hits and six walks through four innings during the Brewers' 8-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins Thursday, April 21. The six free passes were a career high for Jungmann.

Fantasy Tip: After showing promise in his rookie season with a 3.77 ERA and a 8.1 K/9, Jungmann owns an 8.47 ERA with three losses to start 2016. His ownership should be reserved to NL-only leagues until he can find a groove on the mound.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann has disastrous day

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 16:36:54 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann had a rough day Monday, April 11, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He lasted just two innings, surrendering eight runs on eight hits, while striking out two and walking one.

Fantasy Tip: Yikes, not what his owners had in mind when deploying him as a sleeper this season. In Jungmann's defense, this outing came opposite the Cardinals in their home opener, so it wasn't exactly a desirable matchup. As long as this doesn't rattle his confidence, Jungmann should be poised to get back on track in his next outing. He showed enough potential last year as a rookie to be given another chance.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann solid in '16 debut

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 14:24:11 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann made his first start of the season Wednesday, April 6, versus the San Francisco Giants and was pretty good, issuing two runs (one earned) in five innings of work. He also scattered three hits, two walks and struck out one.

Fantasy Tip: Considering he was drafted towards the very end, if at all, in most leagues, this is an outing his owners will gladly take. Jungmann was a deep sleeper after an impressive rookie campaign last year, and is capable of contributing a good ERA to go with regular quality starts. His season debut is a start in the right direction.

Brewers | Matt Garza won't start Wednesday

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 15:31:11 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza (shoulder) will not start against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, April 6. Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann will start against the Giants Wednesday, and Milwaukee SP Chase Anderson will start against the Houston Astros Friday, April 8. The rest of the rotation will be determined at a later date.

Fantasy Tip: Garza struggled mightily in 2015 with a 5.63 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP and 6.3 K/9. Those numbers don't play in any fantasy format, and Garza isn't worth owning as anything more than a desperation flier in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Similarly, Anderson is best left to deeper leagues. Jungmann, on the other hand, has upside as an end-of-the-rotation arm in mixed leagues.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann could start Wednesday

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 09:10:53 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann could start against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, April 6, if the bullpen session for SP Matt Garza (shoulder) doesn't go as well as planned Sunday, April 3, according to general manager David Stearns.

Fantasy Tip: Jungmann went 9-8 with a 3.77 ERA in 21 starts during his rookie season last year, with 107 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings, although he struggled mightily down the stretch. Despite his strikeout and ground-ball potential, he should be viewed exclusively as an NL-only option as a pitcher on a rebuilding team.

Brewers | Taylor Jungmann penciled into rotation

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 16:07:30 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann is penciled into the 2016 starting rotation. He focused his offseason on his core and legs to avoid struggling down the stretch like he did last year. Jungmann went 5-1 with a 2.23 ERA in his first eight starts but finished 4-7 with a 5.60 ERA in his final 11 outings. He admits he was dealing with nagging injuries and became worn down late last year.

Fantasy Tip: Jungmann was up and down in his MLB debut, but he's a promising arm with plenty of strikeout and ground-ball potential. However, he'll need better command of his pitches to make the next step. On a rebuilding team and in a bad environment for pitchers, he's NL-only material all the way.

Brewers | Bad outing for Taylor Jungmann

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 20:36:07 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann allowed six runs on six hits in five innings in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Jungmann ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) has allowed at least four runs in four straight starts, and he appears to have slammed into the rookie wall. He shouldn't be used at FantasyScore right now.
