Updating a previous report, Houston Astros OF George Springer (quadriceps) took batting practice on the field Tuesday, July 29, for the first time since going on the 15-day disabled list July 20. "It's big to be out here and just to get some swings," Springer said. Barring any setbacks, he is expected to increase his activities over the next two days. He is eligible to come off the DL Monday, Aug. 4.
Fantasy Tip: Springer is eligible to return Monday, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will. Generally, it's a good idea to see your fantasy player return and play at least one full game without any setbacks before activating him. In this case, it might be another full week for fantasy owners to use him unless you like to gamble a bit.

Houston Astros OF George Springer (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left quadriceps strain. In a corresponding move, 1B/OF Marc Krauss was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Fantasy Tip: It's retroactive to Sunday, July 20, but this could be a slow recovery and potentially affect his SB potential when he gets back. This cements AL-only asset Enrique Hernandez in center field. Deep mixed leaguers can give Robbie Grossman a try if they can only find an alternative via Houston. Krauss has some pop, and Hernandez has risen through the farm ranks the last few years, but neither is a recommended grab in mixed games.

However, manager Bo Porter was ruling out a trip to the 15-day disabled list for now. "You have to say to yourself, 'He's not going to play within the next 15 days.' We're not at that point right now," Porter said.
