Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta resting

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 15:23:04 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is out of the lineup Saturday, Oct. 3, with SS Greg Garcia hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) hasn't done much in limited playing time. Sit him on FantasyScore against Shelby Miller.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta sitting Sunday

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 10:48:56 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not starting Sunday, Sept. 27, against the Milwaukee Brewers. SS Greg Garcia is in Peralta's place and is hitting seventh against Brewers SP Tyler Cravy.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has a hot .391 average in the last week, and he has started 11 games in a row. This appears to be a normal off day. Don't be surprised if he pinch-hits. Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has little, if any, FantasyScore value.

Cardinals | No Kolten Wong Friday

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 16:40:35 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. 2B Greg Garcia is starting at second base and is batting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Ariel Pena.

Fantasy Tip: There are much better options to choose from at second base than Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) tonight on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta out again vs. Reds

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 07:52:35 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 13. 2B Greg Garcia is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) owns a .595 OPS since the All-Star break and has now sat consecutive games in favor of Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap). Seasonal owners should be looking at replacing Peralta. Garcia is in flier territory at FantasyScore Sunday, as he has handle the bat nicely this season with a .294/.368/.490 slash line over 57 plate appearances this season.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta not in lineup Saturday

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 10:22:41 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, Sept. 12. INF Greg Garcia will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is 6-for-11 with two doubles, a home run and two runs scored over the past week. FantasyScore owners in desperate need of cap relief should consider him for their lineups.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong still sidelined

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 10:48:20 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong (calf) remains out of the lineup Friday, Sept. 11. 2B Greg Garcia is starting at the keystone and is batting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Michael Lorenzen.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) does have 13 hits in 45 at-bats for the Cards since being called up, including one home run, but he's mainly a desperation pick for salary cap relief on FantasyScore. Look for Wong ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) to try to return to the lineup sometime this weekend.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta not playing

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 15:23:58 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 8. 2B Greg Garcia is starting at shortstop and is hitting seventh against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is a utility infielder that has decent speed and power over a full season. In daily setups, though, he shouldn't attract much attention at all unless you're looking for salary cap relief strictly.

Cardinals | Jhonny Peralta not in lineup

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 11:30:13 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston Sunday, Aug. 30. INF Greg Garcia will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Peralta ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) from all fantasy lineups. Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting just .133 in 15 at-bats this month and is not a great FantasyScore option.

Cardinals | Matt Carpenter to play at 1B

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 15:50:46 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 3B Matt Carpenter will start at first base against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa Thursday, Aug. 27, and is batting first. 3B Greg Garcia will start at third base and is batting eighth, while 1B Mark Reynolds is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Carpenter ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has not seen a lot of playing time at first base but is should not affect his fantasy value. Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .298 in limited playing time this season, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to better options to use.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong out again vs. Arizona

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 15:04:13 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 24. 2B Greg Garcia is starting at the keystone and batting eighth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jhoulys Chacin Monday.

Fantasy Tip: The Cards broke out for 10 runs Sunday, Aug. 23, so it isn't surprising to see manager Mike Matheny stick with the same lineup Monday. Make sure to avoid Wong ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats, and it is worth adding, he is really struggling with a .145/.224/.145 slash line and just one multi-hit game in August. Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) brings solid contact skills to the plate and could open up plenty of cap space at FantasyScore Monday. He is worth a look, if you're trying to stack your lineup at other positions.
