Cardinals | Randall Grichuk, Kolten Wong out vs. Mets

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 13:46:36 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk and 2B Kolten Wong are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 27. Cardinals OF Tommy Pham is starting in center field and is hitting eighth, while 2B Greg Garcia is at the keystone and batting leadoff against Mets SP Logan Verrett Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk and Wong haven't played since Sunday, July 24. It's a concerning trend, especially for Wong. Grichuk could enter into a semi-platoon and start solely against lefties, which would be bad. But Wong can't beat out Garcia for playing time right now, as Garcia boasts a .451 on-base percentage for the season. Garcia is a potential add in deep mixed leagues, but he's unlikely to sustain his current production, and he offers extremely limited pop.

Cardinals | St. Louis resting three players

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 17:01:22 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty, 1B Matt Adams and C Yadier Molina are not in the starting lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the New York Mets Tuesday, July 26. 1B Jedd Gyorko will start at first base, while 3B Greg Garcia will start at third base and is batting first against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon. OF Randal Grichuk will start in right field, while OF Tommy Pham will start in center field and is batting fifth. C Alberto Rosario will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Pham may be the most attractive option among the three new players in the starting lineup, but none of the players should be considered in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Randal Grichuk, Kolten Wong sitting

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 11:11:54 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk and 2B Kolten Wong are not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the doubleheader against the New York Mets Tuesday, July 26. Cardinals OF Jeremy Hazelbaker is starting in center field and is hitting eighth, while 2B Greg Garcia is at the keystone and batting leadoff against Mets SP Noah Syndergaard Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk's fantasy stock is on the rise given his .574 slugging percentage through 57 plate appearances since returning from the minors. Wong, meanwhile, continues to struggle and remains a low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Garcia has been hitting well (.313/.447/.444 slash line this season), but he and Hazelbaker are risky fantasy options against Syndergaard Tuesday.

Cardinals | Randal Grichuk, Kolten Wong out

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 13:59:32 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk and 2B Kolten Wong are not in the starting lineup Monday, July 25. OF Jeremy Hazelbaker is starting in center field and is hitting eighth, while 2B Greg Garcia is at the keystone and batting leadoff against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia's daily value is on the rise hitting leadoff, and he's batted .311 in 90 at-bats this year. However, he has just two homers and 11 RBI and is unlikely to fill up the stat sheet for DFS players, making him a low-end option. Hazelbaker has just two hits in 10 at-bats (.200) since his return from the minors and is an option to avoid against Thor.

Cardinals | Wholesale changes for Cards

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 14:23:47 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Greg Garcia is leading off Saturday, July 23, OF Jeremy Hazelbaker is hitting sixth and C Alberto Rosario hits eighth. 2B Kolten Wong, OF Matt Holliday and C Yadier Molina are out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia has cooled a bit, but he's still hitting .314. He has upside at leadoff against Kenta Maeda. Hazelbaker and Rosario don't offer much for DFS purposes.

Cardinals | No Kolten Wong against Padres

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 14:01:48 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B/OF Kolten Wong is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 21. INF Greg Garcia is starting at second base and batting eighth against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Wong projects to continue receiving consistent playing time going forward, but that is the only thing keeping him fantasy relevant in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. His .290 slugging percentage is one of the biggest disappointments of the fantasy season. Garcia has a nice matchup against Cashner Thursday, but hitting eighth limits any real upside. Don't fret fading him in daily contests.
