The Cleveland Indians re-assigned SS Francisco Lindor to minor league camp Wednesday, March 12.
Fantasy Tip: Lindor is a fine young shortstop prospect for the Indians, and there's a good chance he could be a September call-up for the Tribe this season. With Asdrubal Cabrera's time in Cleveland likely coming to an end, 2015 could be the year Lindor is up for good.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said SS Francisco Lindor looks stronger this spring. "He's a little bit bigger, stronger," Francona said. "I don't think he quite has his explosiveness yet that he will, but again, he was down for a while with that back (injury). I think you'll see him be a little more explosive as he gets into playing again."

The Cleveland Indians are not expected to move SS Asdrubal Cabrera this winter. Paul Hoynes, a veteran Cleveland Indians columnist for the Plain Dealer, speculates SS Mike Aviles is only a part-time player and SS prospect Francisco Lindor isn't quite ready for duty due to a back injury last year.

Cleveland Indians SS Francisco Lindor (back) is on the disabled list with Double-A Akron with a lower back strain.
Fantasy Tip: Lindor is the shortstop of the future for the Tribe, but we won't see him this September. He could be in consideration for a call-up sometime next year, though, depending on how he fares in the minors.

The Cleveland Indians have promoted SS Francisco Lindor to Double-A Akron. He'll make his debut Tuesday, July 16.
Fantasy Tip: Lindor is one of the top infield prospects in baseball and was hitting .306/.373/.410 for advanced Class A Carolina before his promotion. He could be in the bigs by sometime next summer.

Cleveland Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera (leg) had to be helped off the field after injuring his lower half while running to first base Monday, June 3.
Fantasy Tip: This didn't look pretty. He wasn't putting any weight on his right leg and was grimacing extensively. Expect Cabrera to land on the disabled list, and he probably won't return within two weeks. Francisco Lindor, one of the team's top prospects, probably isn't ready for the big leagues, so expect Mike Aviles to be the primary shortstop for the time being. Aviles can provide middle infield depth in all formats.
