Astros | Jose Altuve breaks out

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 20:46:18 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two steals and two doubles in a 4-0 win over the New York Yankees Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) had gone eight straight games without multiple hits, but his bat woke up tonight. Despite the mini slump, he remains one of the top options at second base at FantasyScore.

Astros | Jose Altuve in leadoff spot vs. Halos

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 10:50:21 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve is hitting leadoff against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Andrew Heaney Wednesday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has cooled off a bit in June, hitting only .255 (14-for-55) with no home runs and four RBI, and injuries haven't helped his cause. Regardless, he remains solid play on FantasyScore against a pitcher making his season debut Wednesday.

Astros | Jose Altuve returns vs. Mariners

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 15:37:19 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting third against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Monday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has only played one full game over the past 11 days, so he should be viewed an extremely risky FantasyScore play Monday, After all, he carries a hefty salary, and he faces a daunting pitching matchup. Leaving Altuve on the bench in seasonal formats for a game isn't out of the question, either.

Astros | Jose Altuve could return Monday

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 12:54:43 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup against the Seattle Mariners Sunday, June 21. He was able to run sprints forward and backward before the game Saturday, June 20, but manager A.J. Hinch decided not to start him for precautionary reasons, even though he felt "great" during and after the workout.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is expected to return to action for the series opener against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, June 22. INF Marwin Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is filling in for him at the keystone position Sunday.

Astros | Jose Altuve remains out

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 15:14:14 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup Saturday, June 20, against the Seattle Mariners. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at second base and hit eighth in the order against RHP Taijuan Walker.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run Friday, as he extended his hit streak to five games. Gonzalez can be used as a low-risk flier in GPP tournaments.

Astros | Jose Altuve not starting

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 16:17:28 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Roenis Elias Friday, June 19. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at second base and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) should be considered day-to-day at this point, so owners should look for any updates on his status. Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has recorded one hits in each of his last four games but is hitting only .146 this month, so owners should be able to find a better option.

Astros | Jose Altuve's status up in the air

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 15:18:21 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve's (hamstring) status is unknown for the upcoming three-game series against the Seattle Mariners beginning Friday, June 19. Manager A.J. Hinch reiterated he wants to be particularly cautious with Altuve.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid Altuve ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) until he proves he is healthy, and he can play through an entire game. While he is out, Marwin Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) projects to receive the majority of playing time. Gonzalez is a low-upside flier for FantasyScore contests, though.

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) is out of the lineup Thursday, June 18, in favor of 2B Marwin Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) faces David Hale in Colorado, but he doesn't have enough upside offensively to use on FantasyScore.

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 07:20:44 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) isn't facing a disabled list move yet, according to manager A.J. Hinch.

Fantasy Tip: Marwin Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) should fill in while Altuve is out. Gonzalez has a .217-3-15 line on the year and isn't an option on FantasyScore.

Astros | Jose Altuve has discomfort in hamstring

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 18:41:52 -0700

Updating a previous story, Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (hamstring) left the game Wednesday, June 17, against the Colorado Rockies due to discomfort in his hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve has dealt with hamstring injuries in the past, making this news pretty scary for season-long owners. The Astros will likely have an update on Altuve later Wednesday night, or Thursday morning.
