Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis (triceps) received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right triceps muscle after being diagnosed with inflammation. He has been removed from his rehab assignment and will likely resume throwing this weekend. The team hopes he can resume his rehab assignment next week.

Fantasy Tip: This represents a minor setback for Lewis, and it buys more time for either Justin Grimm or Nick Tepesch in the starting rotation. Lewis is expected to take one of those younger's spot when he's fully healthy. Lewis is close enough to warrant stashing on your mixed league roster.

Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) will need to undergo back surgery Tuesday, April 23, to fix a herniated disc in his back.

Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable on Harrison's return, but it's realistic that he won't return until after the All-Star break. This is a big blow to a rotation that was already lacking depth. Nick Tepesch and Justin Grimm will remain at the back end, but they are only worth rostering in AL-only leagues. Owners hanging onto Harrison in mixed formats can drop him at this point.

Texas Rangers SP Alexi Ogando will make his scheduled start Thursday, April 18, against the Chicago Cubs despite the rainout Wednesday, April 17. The pitching rotation will not be juggled, and fifth starter SP Justin Grimm will simply have his turn skipped.

Updating previous reports, the Texas Rangers have decided to push SP Yu Darvish's (blister) next start back to Friday, April 19. SPs Derek Holland, Justin Grimm and Alexi Ogando will start against the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series beginning Tuesday, April 16.

Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain. P Justin Grimm will start Thursday, April 11.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison has been dealing with stiffness for a couple of weeks and was likely to miss his next start. The team decided to DL him, probably as a precaution. He should be back after his 15-day stint is up.

The Texas Rangers optioned SP Justin Grimm to Triple-A Round Rock and reassigned SP Randy Wells to minor league camp Friday, March 22.

Fantasy Tip: This pretty much assures Nick Tepesch of the No. 5 rotation spot after the team announced Robbie Ross would head back to the bullpen. Derek Lowe is expected to serve as the long reliever/swingman.

Texas Rangers SP Randy Wells gave up one run in five innings Thursday, March 14, while giving up three hits and walking four and striking out four. "From the get go, I felt good," Wells said. "I was able to make a pitch when I needed to and it was nice to get out there, stretch it out and go five innings." The outing was likely good enough to keep him in the competition with SPs Robbie Ross and Justin Grimm for the last rotation spot. P Nick Tepesch remains a dark horse candidate.

He has a 3.00 ERA in nine innings this spring. P Justin Grimm is also in the mix for the fifth starter role, and he was scheduled to throw Sunday, March 10, as well.
