Padres | Ryan Buchter next man up for saves?

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:04:22 -0700

San Diego Padres RP Ryan Buchter is the likely closer if RP Fernando Rodney is traded, in the opinion of the San Diego Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin.

Fantasy Tip: A speculative grab of Buchter is advised immediately. He has a 2.91 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP with 50 strikeouts through 34 innings this season. Stay tuned for updates, but Rodney is expected to be dealt at some point this season, and Buchter looks the part of a solid closer.

Padres | Ryan Buchter picks up save

Thu, 12 May 2016 20:20:57 -0700

San Diego Padres RP Ryan Buchter pitched a perfect ninth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday, May 12, to pick up his first save of the year. RP Fernando Rodney was unavailable after saving both games of a double-header Wednesday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: It is worth noting that Buchter earned the save chance while Brandon Maurer remained in a setup role. If Rodney starts to struggle, Buchter could be worth stashing.

Braves | Gavin Floyd to DL

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 11:07:41 -0700

The Atlanta Braves placed SP Gavin Floyd (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right elbow Friday, June 20, and recalled P Ryan Buchter from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Although the Braves haven't released a timetable for Floyd's return, they expect him to be back this season. However, it'll likely be an extended absence. This injury bodes well for the return of Alex Wood to the rotation. Look to jump ahead of the curve and add Wood in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.
