Indians | Trevor Bauer will try to play catch

Sun, 26 Apr 2015 08:48:47 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer (illness) might try to play catch Sunday, April 26. The team isn't sure if Bauer's scheduled start Tuesday, April 28, is in jeopardy.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been lights out to start the season, with a 0.95 ERA. Bauer has been striking out 12.32 batters per nine innings, but has also walked 5.21 batters per nine. Bauer hasn't allowed a home run yet this season, but all three of his starts have been of the quality variety. If Bauer's on your waiver wire, go and get him.

Indians | Trevor Bauer gets raw deal

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 22:36:20 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer allowed just four hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings Monday, April 20, against the Chicago White Sox but ended up with a no-decision after CL Cody Allen blew his first save.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer has a miniscule 0.95 ERA through three outings while posting six or more innings and recording seven or more strikeouts in each start. At just $3,900 (or 7.8% of cap) he is a fantastic FantasyScore bargain while running hot.

Indians | Trevor Bauer wins another

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 14:44:32 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer improved to 2-0 on the season to win his first two starts of the season for the first time in his career by beating the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, April 15. He allowed just two runs and four hits while walking four and striking out eight in six innings.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is off to the best start of his young career, and he may be headed to a breakout season in 2015. However, he's walked nine hitters in two outings, which demonstrates the risk/reward you'll get with him at FantasyScore. Regardless, his solid results are encouraging, and his strikeout numbers make him a strong play for daily gamers.

Indians | Trevor Bauer shines vs. Astros

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 14:18:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer threw six no-hit innings in winning fashion against the Houston Astros Thursday, April 9, with 11 strikeouts and five walks.

Fantasy Tip: After a strong spring, Bauer ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) walked into a dream matchup Thursday. The Astros are prone to striking out, and Bauer boasts a nasty pitching arsenal. While fantasy folks shouldn't read too much into Bauer first start, it certainly is a step in the right direction, and the once highly regarded prospect stands to have a breakout campaign. In favorable matchups, he is a nice target for FantasyScore players, especially at his cap hit.

Indians | Trevor Bauer focused on two-seamer

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 17:19:48 -0800

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer focused on his two-seam fastball in his first spring training start Thursday, March 5. "It was nice to be in a game situation again," said Bauer. "In live BP and bullpen [sessions], the adrenaline isn't quite there and you never quite know how things are going to turn out when your adrenaline is there and you have a defense behind you and in a stadium. I was pleased with it." Bauer allowed one unearned run on three hits in three innings in the start.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer is a popular breakout candidate after his most successful season in the majors. His strikeout potential is intriguing, and if he's able to cut down on walks, he'll return plenty of value on a late-round pick.

Indians | Trevor Bauer refines pitches

Sat, 21 Feb 2015 16:16:25 -0800

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer impressed pitching coach Mickey Callaway Friday, Feb. 20, with the refinements he made to his two-seam fastball and splitter in the offseason. "It was probably the best command we've seen out of him, especially for the first time," Callaway said. "It's got that axis of spin that he was looking for in the offseason. That's going to contribute to the movement that he wants. Obviously, it's still a work in progress for the consistency of it, but I definitely saw some pitches [Friday] that had some pretty good movement." Bauer spent portions of the offseason consulting various pitching specialists and reviewing slow-motion footage of his delivery to make adjustments.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer has failed to live up to his hype thus far, but he still has immense potential. He's worth a flyer for the back end of your mixed league rotations.

Indians | Trevor Bauer hopes to take next step

Sun, 25 Jan 2015 05:20:33 -0800

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer said he threw for 3 1/2 hours each day and lifted weights for 3 1/2 hours each day this offseason. During his free time, he studied game film, pieced together video montages and developed his own scoring system to grade his performances on the mound. Bauer also traveled around the country and picked the brains of pitching gurus. "A lot of the research I've been doing on peak performers [shows] they don't think," Bauer said. "They're not really conscious of what they're doing. I've added that. A piece of my training program is doing exercises to force myself to work in an unconscious or a subconscious realm, as opposed to a conscious realm."
