Nationals | Anthony Rendon socks 12th homer

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:45:46 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Tuesday, July 26, against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon has been a streaky hitter, and right now he is rolling along. He has four multi-hit games over his past seven outings. He remains a must-start fantasy option in NL-only fantasy leagues and deeper mixed formats and DFS play.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon back in the lineup

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:54:41 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (illness) is batting sixth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Bud Norris Wednesday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon missed the past two games with the flu. It's safe to return him to your lineups in seasonal leagues. He remains a low-end starter in all fantasy formats with some upside to finish the season strong.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon scratched Tuesday

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:06:32 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (flu) is out of the lineup again Tuesday, July 19, due to the flu. 2B Daniel Murphy will start at third base and SS Trea Turner will fill in for Murphy at second against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Scott Kazmir.

Fantasy Tip: This is the second straight game Rendon has missed, so stay tuned and see how much more time Rendon will be out. This should not be a long-lasting ailment requiring time on the disabled list. Murphy has hits in each of his last five games, and assuming he stays healthy Murphy's fantasy value will be high. As for Turner, he hasn't seen enough steady action to recommend putting him in your lineup.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon scratched from lineup

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 08:37:32 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (illness) has been scratched from the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Chad Kuhl Sunday, July 17, because of flu-like symptoms. INF Stephen Drew will start at third base, with INF Trea Turner playing second base.

Fantasy Tip: Drew is batting .333 (6-for-18) during the month of July, while Turner is 4-for-11 at the MLB level this season. Both players should be viewed as productive sources of salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon drives in two runs

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 20:59:24 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBIs Saturday, July 16, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon has turned up the intensity on offense, posting seven multi-hit games over the past 18 games dating back to June 25. He helps fantasy owners in NL-only leagues and DFS play for his power potential, but his mediocre average makes him less attractive in rotisserie formats.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman, Anthony Rendon starting

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 08:43:15 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman and 3B Anthony Rendon are back in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb Sunday, July 3. In addition, OF Michael Taylor will bat leadoff and play center field, with OF Ben Revere receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman is hitting just .174 in 86 at-bats since June 1, and should be avoided in daily fantasy formats this afternoon. Rendon is batting .254 overall but has a .293 mark versus southpaws, although he is still looking for his first home run off a left-hander in 2016. Taylor hit .310 with two home runs, six RBI and four steals during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play in DFS.

Nationals | Two Nats take a seat

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 14:19:50 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are out of the lineup Saturday, July 2. 1B Clint Robinson is hitting sixth, and 3B Stephen Drew is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson and Drew have occasional power, but they're not consistent enough at the plate to make good flyers against Dan Straily today.

Nationals | Two Nats sit

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 16:17:17 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and OF Jayson Werth are out of the lineup Saturday, June 18, with OF Michael Taylor hitting second and 3B Stephen Drew hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is hitting .333 this month, and he's a good flyer against Colin Rea as he's hitting ahead of Bryce Harper. Drew is 8-for-16 with three homers this month, and he, too, is a low-end flyer with a good matchup.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon sitting vs. Phillies

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:35:10 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 10. INF Stephen Drew is starting at third base and batting seventh against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like a routine night off for Rendon. He has been scorching hot with 17 runs, 13 extra-base hits (four home runs), 15 RBI and three stolen bases since Tuesday, May 10. Over the past three years, Drew has a .178/.258/.354 slash line through 792 plate appearances, which makes him a low-end fantasy option in all formats.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon in fine form

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 14:36:47 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon has a .348/.442/.596 slash line since Tuesday, May 10, and he is batting .389 so far in June.

Fantasy Tip: It is always wise to look into the dates of arbitrary stat grabs, and in this case, looking at Rendon's numbers since Tuesday, May 17, is more beneficial. This sample size reflects Rendon's demotion down the lineup from the two-hole, and through those 19 games, he has a .358/.442/.657 slash line, including 12 runs, four home runs, 14 RBI and two stolen bases. This is the five-category production owners hoped for when they targeted Rendon in the early middle rounds this spring. View Rendon as a high-end fantasy option in all setups going forward.
