Nationals | Anthony Rendon picking it up

Wed, 25 May 2016 10:11:02 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon is 10-for-24 (.417) with five extra-base hits and eight RBI in his last seven games.

Fantasy Tip: After a really slow start in April, Rendon is starting to show signs of turning things around. His average is up to .254, and he has three home runs, 14 RBI and five stolen bases. The window to buy low may be ending, and Rendon should contribute nicely across multiple categories for the remainder of the season.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon drives in two

Wed, 18 May 2016 20:35:36 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon went 2-for-3 with two RBI against the New York Mets Wednesday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon has recorded six hits and three RBI over the last five games and will continue to be in the everyday lineup. Rendon is hitting only .237 so far this season but should still be a starting option in most leagues.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon dropped to sixth

Tue, 17 May 2016 13:07:01 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon is hitting sixth in the lineup Tuesday, May 17, against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Although Rendon is hitting .318 in the past week and has a .429 mark this year against Syndergaard, overall it hasn't been a good season. Rendon is hitting .203 this month and .195 against opponents on the road. By going into a lower spot, the team hopes some of the pressure is taken off of Rendon. For now, Remdon carries little fantasy value.

Nationals | Two Nats due for better luck?

Tue, 03 May 2016 16:43:51 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and 1B Ryan Zimmerman have combined for just one home run and nine RBI to start the year. However, Rendon has a .279 batting average on balls in play, which is 32 points below his career mark. Zimmerman's average exit velocity off the bat of 95 mph ranks seventh in baseball, and he's reached base in four of his last eight plate appearances.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon has been hitting the ball hard as well and should start seeing better results sooner than later. He's a prime buy-low fantasy commodity in the early going. With Zimmerman, it's all about health. His last two seasons suffered as he dealt with injuries that shortened his years. Either way, don't completely write him off in shallow leagues just yet.

Nationals | Two Nats take a seat

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 09:23:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and OF Michael Taylor are out of the lineup Thursday, April 28. OF Matt den Dekker is leading off, and 3B Stephen Drew is hitting eighth. C Wilson Ramos remains on the bereavement list with C Pedro Severino hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Drew and den Dekker are below the Mendoza Line and don't have enough upside for a start against Aaron Nola. Severino has four career at-bats, and he's not a great flyer either.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman out

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 12:59:02 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 13. 2B Stephen Drew is at third base and is hitting second, while 1B Clint Robinson is starting at first base and is batting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Drew nor Robinson should be very attractive in daily contests Tuesday evening. Drew does have more appeal as a deep sleeper, though, near the top of the order, and after all he did hit 17 home runs last season.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon enjoys three-hit day

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 15:04:21 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon went 3-for-5 with two runs scored against the Miami Marlins on Sunday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon hasn't homered or driven in a run yet, but given his spot between Michael Taylor and Bryce Harper atop the order, it's only a matter of time. Keep the injury-prone slugger in fantasy lineups; he will have a good chance to get on the board soon as the Nationals host the Atlanta Braves for the first of four games starting Monday.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon feels great

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 17:03:19 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon said he feels great this spring. Rendon played in only 80 games last year because of knee and quadriceps injuries. "I feel great. Three and a half months of the offseason, I had a lot of rest, a lot of working out, getting in shape, I feel good." Rendon said. "(During the offseason), we stuck to the same routine. We incorporated flexibility, dynamic stretching, dynamic working out. You name it, I did it."

Fantasy Tip: Rendon didn't homer until August last year, but obviously injuries to his lower half were to blame. Don't expect him to run all that much, either, but his power should rebound with health. He's a risk/reward commodity this year, but at his reduced cost, he's absolutely worth taking a chance on. Second and third base eligibility makes him even more attractive, especially in deep leagues.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon avoids arbitration

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 14:15:30 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon re-signed a one-year, $2.8 million contract to avoid arbitration Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: There is bounce-back potential for Rendon this season, and reaching for him in the early middle rounds isn't out of the question this spring. He has the potential to reward you with a five-category return, which is a rare commodity, especially for a hitter eligible at second base. Don't fret his down 2015 season.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon moving back to hot corner

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 13:24:31 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon will move back to third base this season with INF Yunel Escobar traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon was a fantasy nightmare in 2015, especially considering his was billed as a potential first-round talent entering the season. There is bounce-back potential and reaching for Rendon in the early middle rounds isn't out of the question this spring, as he has the potential to provide a five-category return.
