Nationals | Two Nats take a seat

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 09:23:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and OF Michael Taylor are out of the lineup Thursday, April 28. OF Matt den Dekker is leading off, and 3B Stephen Drew is hitting eighth. C Wilson Ramos remains on the bereavement list with C Pedro Severino hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Drew and den Dekker are below the Mendoza Line and don't have enough upside for a start against Aaron Nola. Severino has four career at-bats, and he's not a great flyer either.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman out

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 12:59:02 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 13. 2B Stephen Drew is at third base and is hitting second, while 1B Clint Robinson is starting at first base and is batting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Drew nor Robinson should be very attractive in daily contests Tuesday evening. Drew does have more appeal as a deep sleeper, though, near the top of the order, and after all he did hit 17 home runs last season.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon enjoys three-hit day

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 15:04:21 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon went 3-for-5 with two runs scored against the Miami Marlins on Sunday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon hasn't homered or driven in a run yet, but given his spot between Michael Taylor and Bryce Harper atop the order, it's only a matter of time. Keep the injury-prone slugger in fantasy lineups; he will have a good chance to get on the board soon as the Nationals host the Atlanta Braves for the first of four games starting Monday.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon feels great

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 17:03:19 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon said he feels great this spring. Rendon played in only 80 games last year because of knee and quadriceps injuries. "I feel great. Three and a half months of the offseason, I had a lot of rest, a lot of working out, getting in shape, I feel good." Rendon said. "(During the offseason), we stuck to the same routine. We incorporated flexibility, dynamic stretching, dynamic working out. You name it, I did it."

Fantasy Tip: Rendon didn't homer until August last year, but obviously injuries to his lower half were to blame. Don't expect him to run all that much, either, but his power should rebound with health. He's a risk/reward commodity this year, but at his reduced cost, he's absolutely worth taking a chance on. Second and third base eligibility makes him even more attractive, especially in deep leagues.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon avoids arbitration

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 14:15:30 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon re-signed a one-year, $2.8 million contract to avoid arbitration Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: There is bounce-back potential for Rendon this season, and reaching for him in the early middle rounds isn't out of the question this spring. He has the potential to reward you with a five-category return, which is a rare commodity, especially for a hitter eligible at second base. Don't fret his down 2015 season.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon moving back to hot corner

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 13:24:31 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon will move back to third base this season with INF Yunel Escobar traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon was a fantasy nightmare in 2015, especially considering his was billed as a potential first-round talent entering the season. There is bounce-back potential and reaching for Rendon in the early middle rounds isn't out of the question this spring, as he has the potential to provide a five-category return.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar could be trade bait

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 10:08:08 -0800

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar could be a trade option this offseason after hitting .314 with a .790 OPS last year. The Nationals already have 2B Danny Espinosa, SS Trea Turner and 2B Wilmer Difo. Escobar is under contract for $7 million in 2016 with a $7 million team option for 2017. 3B Anthony Rendon will be entrenched at third base.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar had a career year in 2015, thanks largely in part to Rendon's early season injury giving him a shot to hold down the starting third base job. Even if Escobar remains in Washington, he's unlikely to see the kind of playing time that made him valuable in the majority of fantasy leagues. Expect some regression in 2016, so don't pay for his 2015 peak.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon likely to play hot corner

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 17:43:46 -0700

The Washington Nationals are expected to move INF Anthony Rendon back to third base next season. He played 59 games at third base and 28 games at second base in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: For Rendon, a potential return to third base means he would be playing a position that's less physically demanding. He hit .264 with five home runs and 25 RBIs over 311 at-bats in an injury-plagued 2015 campaign which saw him slowed by oblique, knee, side and quadriceps issues.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 11:05:09 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Jacob de Grom Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Anthony Rendon will bat leadoff and play third base, while INF Trea Turner will bat second and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is just 3-for-22 over the past week and should not be used in FantasyScore this afternoon. Turner ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at this point.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon out of Game 2

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 15:41:10 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Anthony Rendon is out of the lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, Oct. 3, with 2B Wilmer Difo hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Difo ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is 1-for-10 (.100) to begin his career and isn't a good option on FantasyScore against Matt Harvey.
